Thriftasaurus #114.

Thriftasaurus #114!

Greetings everyone! Hope you all are having a great week so far, everything is a whirlwind over here, flying by!!

I've gotten a lot of great stuff, but am unable to take photos (hence the late link up). Was anticipating being able to take photos of everything, but alas, didn't work out! I'm going to rip a few off my Instagram, so I have at least a few to share & I guess double next week!?

Vintage McDonald's socks! They came with a headband, hat & armbands, but they aren't so cool.

Both eBay buys! Great price on these fabulous knee huggers. When I was buying some at the antique market last week, the lady at the counter was asking the BF if I had these & yup, he said I just got them. She also asked about another set, he said yup, he has it! How does he know my kneehugger collection so well!?

Thanks for linking up! Hope holiday decorating is a blast...

Thriftasaurus #106

Thriftasaurus #106

Good afternoon thrifters! Hope you had a great, fun filled treasure hunting week.

I had some fun finds this week, a few I have even previously looked up on eBay, so not bad at all!

I picked up a few pieces of clothing this week, a vintage Screen Stars Paula Abdul t-shirt & a Fred Perry Laurel Wreath Jacket. I don't make it a habit to check out the sweaters & jackets, but it was raining & I actually thought, "maybe I'll find a Fred Perry jacket." Well, lo & behold. I wish that worked with Pyrex! *I will find a Shamrock Salad Set & a full set of Pink Butterprint & it won't be chipped or dishwasher damaged & it will have lids & brackets* - that ain't too much to ask for, right? These are 2 things I've eBay'd in the past. & black is my colour.

I've wanted one of these pixies for a long time! I've seen a handful in antique markets, but I don't got $20 for one vintage pixie. This was a thrift store find... yellow isn't really my colour, but this beggar won't be a chooser.

A large lot of vintage/retro greeting cards. (Not all posted, just a sample).

I already have a set of 4 of these glasses, but can always use an extra. I really think these are my favourite that I own. They had another one but it had a rim chip.

I bought this bag of magnets for the vintage Pac Man & Space Invaders one, but they  had a few other cute ones.

& ummm... also picked these up in a grab bag, cute enough.

Well that's it for me! Hope you had a fun week, too.

Wanted Wednesday & New T-Shirt!

WANTED WEDNESDAY!

So I'm start this new collection & there is this brochure on eBay that seems is pretty rare, shipping to USA only. Anybody want to let me have it shipped to their house & ship it to me? Hope so! New collection - enable me!

It's no big deal if ya can't,  some people are busy.

Here is my new vintage tee. Ain't it grand? Once I toss a few pounds, it'll be my new antiquing shirt. Just hope people don't get the wrong idea & think I do mean ASS. I can see how they would,  but yeah, I like it!

Thriftasaurus

Thriftasaurus

What a great [thrifting/antiquing] start to the new year! Of course, I hope the trend continues. This week I was able to check off THREE, yes THREE, items off my want list! Although, along the way another one was added. Ain't that always how it is? I spent way to much money at the antique market this weekend, money we don't have, but it's been so rare to find anything anywhere lately, it was OK with the boy!

PYREX!
Long time no see. I have come across the Pink Daisy Space Saver numerous times, even once in a thrift store, however they have all been so hideously damaged, I had to leave them behind. I need 3 more pieces to complete my Pink Daisy
(that I know of anyways): JAJ gravy boat, the other space saver & the open baker. There is however, that Pink Daisy 470-something that someone once bought off eBay, but I probably won't ever find that. Also, the 472 Barcode. I just picked up the 471 a couple months ago. We're off to a good start. They were both from an antique market. I was sick of the Pink Daisy tease, so there it sat, in the last booth of the day & it was nice enough to come home with me.   Two items off the list. I also got a Primary Blue 502, dish is in OK condition, lid is chipped. Got it for the chipped lid for display purposes.

I bought the Early American because I don't really know why. I may try to resell it to put some money towards how much I spent at the antique market. This was from the thrift store.
Also bought this Federal mug. Initially thought it was Fire King from the shape. I never knew Federal made mugs like this. This mug has remnants of a very old price tag.

WOW! What thrifter is on a Hazel Atlas kick? $2.99 for this bowl.

This is a great score! I was psyched & at $2.99 a piece. 2 vintage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles t-shirts, one from 1988 & one from 1990... still with tags.  . & In my size! I have periodically been searching these on eBay, but what comes up, I can't afford, is ugly or isn't my size.

Kneehuggers.
Ok, I paid $14 at the market for the guy with the beard. I don't have one with pointed ears & nose & beard. I don't recall ever seeing one. Who knows if I'll ever see one again. The lady who runs the booth overprices, but she is friendly. Both times I have seen her in the market she has spoke to me. A conversation. I have never had a vendor speak to me before, ever. I find it awkward as hell when I am in their booth & they are restocking & they don't acknowledge you. Is it just me? The other guy, pointed ears, in gold, don't have a gold with pointed ears. I needed him. He's mine!

& finally, I have my second travel bar. My other one is better, but this one is still pretty cool, since i.ts complete, with key & original tag! You can see my other one HERE. It has a empty Holy Bible where you hide your booze. I got it from a church sale for $5. It's amazing!

& don't forget these marked, 1959 Holt Howard winking Santa mugs.

Well, that's it for me! I'm still on a thrifting high. I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of these items showed up in "The Best of 2014!" I may be doing some shopping tomorrow, too, so maybe more nice things will make their way home.

Thriftasaurus: One Year Anniversary

Thriftasaurus

It's been one year already, eh? Time definitely flies when you're having fun thrifting. I had planned on coordinating a giveaway with the one year anniversary, but it crept up on me & I had yet to find anything suitable to giveaway! I'll be going to a couple neat things these next few months, so I'm going to keep my eyes peeled & I can make the giveaway closer to the US Thanksgiving in case the winner is from the US & I can save on shipping.

Thank you everybody who joins up every week for making it a success, love seeing your finds!

I got out a little more then I anticipated this week. Tonight, I feel like the bags under my eyes are down to my lips & I could fall asleep at any given second. I was going to force myself to go shopping tonight, but co-workers advised against it. I look like someone beat me up.

I found this splash proof Fire King bowl. So, I was once reprimanded by someone before for calling a similar blue (not by Pyrex) Delphite, what does Fire King call this colour? They had said only Pyrex items can be called Delphite. Anyone? I have 2 other splash proofs from thrift stores: one tulip & one opal. This one was in a bit of rough shape, but cleaned up nice enough. I can't help but wonder if the whole set had been donated. Also some Butterprint. It's been a long time me & Butterprint.

I picked up these anthropomorphic salt & pepper shakers thinking they were a set. When I left the store I was like, "why did I buy them? they aren't really my style." When I got home, I found out that they are from 2 different sets & have each been separated from their mates. I've since come to grow fond enough of them. I do have a few anthropomorphic shakers in my collection, but only the silverware.

Gordon Fraser vintage wrapping paper, always fun.

This was a buck. After buying it I hated myself for wasting the dollar. Now I can't live without it. I'm starting a new collection & this is going to be on display with it. I just need to find a very, very small plate holder.

I bought two of these Red Deer Village shirts - vintage, 50/50, cute, don't look worn & $1 a piece.
pretty tacky shot. sorry.

I'm posting early tomorrow because in the morning I am leaving to go to a cottage, wish the heatwave would be staying around. A cottage & I, I don't really see us mixing too well. No internet, no thrift stores (don't even get to stop anywhere in cottage country or on the way, bummer), I get to fish? I'm really much more of a concrete prince.

Thriftasaurus

Thriftasaurus.

Hello fellow thrifters, hope everybody has had a good week. I picked up a few items, didn't do very well considering I went into 13 thrift stores this week & 2 antique markets, but I guess you win some you lose some. Although it's silly, I can't help be bothered by it.

Last week, I found a full box of vintage Valentines, I was lucky enough (a week later) to come across another box of the exact same ones! Just incase you don't believe me...

I did get a lot of compliments on this set of cards, if any other card collectors are interested in trading for them, please send me an email (my contact is in my profile). I am open to other trades besides cards - just take a look around my blog, see what my interests are.

Picked up a few more items in the card area, two vintage die-cut Valentines, one mechanical (clown) & the other is dated 1945. They were $1 for the lot. Some cat woman invitations from 1991 & some Cards by Kay & one lone Rust Craft.

These Pac-Man magnets are pretty neat. I believe they are from the cartoon show... that would make them not so common.

I will admit it. Growing up, I was a HUUUUUGE Marilyn Manson fan. Not the biggest I've ever met (one guy had 20+ Marilyn Manson tattoos & met the band one day & they all signed his body & he got it tattooed the next day). I had always wanted this particular shirt, made during Manson's height of popularity, but could never find it.. this was back before I had the internet. Well, unworn. Lucky, I guess. I always find it weird that there is always just one band shirt out of like 400 shirts. Or one vintage shirt.

Some Snowflake Pyrex (the bottom one, JAJ). The black space saver, some Toronto shoppers may have seen it, but I couldn't pass it up for a couple bucks & the metal lid. I've coveted one of those metal lids for some reason for awhile & it would work perfectly for display mode, too! One my way to completing.. got the black, was just put away.

I don't collect Coca-Cola stuff really, just these really neat cans.. I guess they are from the 1980's? I got two more (the ones in the middle). I'm very excited. There are still more out there to complete my collection.

This is just a hilarious piece of 1990's nostalgia for me (hopefully you too!). Remember these bracelets? The rings (which were rarer?). I bought a bag of junk for $2 & this was unknowingly in there. I am currently teasing my boyfriend with it.

That's it for me, can't wait to see what you've dug up this week!

eBay Buy: Tank Girl Official Movie Shirt

Ooooh, might not be much appreciation, but Tank Girl is one of my favourite movies. Lori Petty was one of my favourite actresses growing up. She was in one of my all time favourite sitcoms - Lush Life. I think only 4 episodes aired it did so bad. Also enjoyed her in Relax... It`s Just Sex.

Anyways,
TANK GIRL.
not Lori.
Greatest detail or something on set & stuff.. outfits.

I bought a bootlegged shirt from a shop on Queen West that since closed down for like $22 bucks a few years ago & bought another one - bootlegged - that I still have that`s too small from a thrift store. This one looks like it`s in fantastic condish & it`s offish, so rock on. I recently sold a X-Files shirt for $70, so I could afford this $40 shirt just fine.

Thriftasaurus

Thriftasaurus

Can finally cross this one off my list! & got 2 extra lids in case another bottom part happens along. I bought this weeks ago, at the end of May when I went to Ohio.

Some other Pyrex finds this week, probably bought out of desperation or "empty hand syndrome". I don't even think the 471 I'm not very educated on (I am guessing Homestead & didn't come with a clear lid?), but the size comes in handy for me a lot, so I decided home it comes. The 024 turquoise, well, it had obviously been discarded by someone else.. utensil marks, a couple of see through parts.. no lid.

I found 3 bags of McDonald's promo crap - they also had a couple more, one with floss & Pizza shoelaces. My favorite is the wrapping paper, Christmas cards & the puffy stickers. I listed some of the McDonalds stuff on eBay. I'm not sure if this was just a Canadian thing, but I remember going to McDonalds & you ask for "Treat of the Week" & it was just some random junk that made the kids happy that was free - stuff like the stuff below. No one I talk to remembers it.

My favourite find this week is below.. two very good condition Hole t-shirts from 1994. I very seldom look through the t-shirts at the thrifts because they are vintage picked, but I guess they do miss some, but generally, it isn't worth my time. When I was picking up my new in box Friendship Pyrex this Monday, I had moments to spare at the thrift store by the guys house, so I headed for the tees. As I was getting to the end of the rack, I was smirking inside thinking, "figures, vintage picked, as always!" Couple shirts down - this very shirt I need for my Hole t-shirt collection! I owned one in the 1990's, bought for $9 at Giant Tiger (a discount store). I was psyched! I haven't bought a Hole shirt at a thrift in 13 years, but, I did stop looking at tees a couple years ago. About 15 shirts down, another one! What are the odds!? Hole is hands down my all time favourite band, my originally pressed Hole CD collection is around 100 discs. Besides my coin collection (which only a few special ones remain, I sold off the bulk of it a few years ago), this is my oldest collection.

WWF glasses.

I'm listing some stuff on eBay in the next couple days. I listed the Boy Scout patches I got extra in a bag, I made about $40. I am listing some of the McDonald's stuff (including one package of wrapping paper, some window clings, treats of the week, puffy stickers), X-Files tee, Primus tee, Bud Light fabric (LOL). Just a nice mixture.

This upcoming week, I don't know if I'll get out much. Monday is 50% off day at Value Village & Tazlie. The Goodwill by my house is baron, it's closing down in early July. I am going away Thursday. But I did forget to take pictures of a two small things I bought, so, at least I'll have something to show next week.

Link up below if you found something this week!
