"I don't decorate, I accumulate."
- Dolores, NY (Hoarders, Season 6, Episode 12)
can you spot the Pyrex? |
Dolores is a collector, not just a hoarder. I just started watching this episode, so far, there aren't piles of poop in her house, no used tampons on the floor, her toilet isn't overflowing, no piles of trash... she is just a collector of items. I kinda feel the same was as Dolores. I was actually thinking earlier today about the amount of stuff I accumulate & how I have absolutely no decorating skills & it basically all sits there. I don't decorate, I accumulate.
This is my Pyrex haul for the week - 5 vintage Butterprint bowls all from the same thrift. I have been going to this thrift for a couple weeks now, I believe this is my 5th time recently, but I have been there in the past & never found anything. Walking up to the thrift, I was crossing my fingers & saying xx "it's gotta pay off this time. it's gotta" xx.
It did.
All that Butterprint. 403 ($2.99), 402 (2 x $2.99), 401 (2 x $2.49). Probably have 4 or 5 sets of Butterprint mixing bowls, but still missing the elusive 404.
Also at the same thrift was the cute knee hugger elf I posted about & some Holly Hobbie table clothes.. can you call them that if they aren't cloth?
I started following a blog, Mister True & Blackjack too. I don't remember what page it was, but the blogger had found the cutest devil knee hugger! Totally want one.
image of devil from here.
I know donations have been down in our area, so can't wait to see what you've found. Please link up below for Thriftasaurus!
Haha I spotted the pyrex! Well I can relate only that I have a lot of Pyrex!! I do know how to decorate though =) I wish I could find some Butterprint like that in a thrift only once did that happen to me! I hardly ever see it there! Love your finds!
ReplyDeleteDecorating skills & a lot of Pyrex - totally jelly. Butterprint is common enough here. I have more Butterprint than any other pattern (I think).
DeleteIs this the place where I found my Butterprint cinderella bowl a week or two ago? Nice finds! The Holly Hobby prints are very nice, too.
ReplyDeleteNah, this store isn't technically in Toronto! Takes me quite awhile to get there, too. I like where my BF drives me around.
DeleteI'm right there with you! I have a great eye for accumulation coupled with zero talent for decorating. Someday...is my mantra.
ReplyDeleteWish there was a LIKE button on blog comments.
DeleteThat's my favourite Pyrex mixing bowl set!! I was lucky to find the exact set at Salvation Army a couple of years ago for $3! It's my favourite, I also have my grandparents set of Butterprint cinderella bowls. Love the Devil Knee hugger~ I bid on one for Halloween but it went for too much:(
ReplyDelete$3? Awesome score! My grandparents used Butterprint, but I guess when my grandma went into the home, my grandfather tossed it. I made my sister ask for it.
DeleteI'm going to continue looking for a devil knee hugger. Maybe someone will list it cheap with a BIN!
i love the cheeky little knee huggers!
ReplyDeleteI would take any kind of knee higger, have you seen the Easter bunny ones?? Too cute, I want one of those too!!
ReplyDeleteOH MY, they are cute!

Always finding something new that I can't live without. I need to win the lotto.
Wow, you really come up with a lot of great Pyrex!
ReplyDeleteOhmigosh! It's so funny you mentioned that episode! I watch hoarders a lot...but that one stuck out to me because I found myself thinking, "wow...that lady has a lot of cool stuff! I'd love to dig through there..." It made me a little worried, lol! You know, to watch myself ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't decorate much with my vintage either. I find it hard to find a "style" and I worry that while I'm going for charming and eclectic, it'll come off as ugly. But we should both start! :)
Great finds!
Thanks Marty! & that's exactly what I'm worried about, too. I'm gonna decorate the place... slowwwwly.. see how it goes. By the time it's done we'll probably be ready to move out.
DeleteI guess that is where we are different. I try really really hard to not just accumulate stuff. If I can't use it in my house for some kind of decoration or other function, I won't keep it. I could get so out of control if I let myself slip on this rule! Seriously, you guys would see me on Hoarders!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of your Butterprint score! I haven't seen any in a while now.
Love the little knee huggers!
Hopefully you find some soon!
DeleteIt's possible I'll be on hoarder one day.. Maybe we can make a pool & see which thrift blogger winds up on Hoarders first? heh.
Oh geez, another thing to add to my mile long must-have list: devil kneehugger!
ReplyDeleteSorry!
Deletehah.
Great finds, very unique! I love buying secondhand things but frequently filter stuff out again on ebay when ive got my joy from it. My biggest collection is old books, but to be honest, as long as you keep your collections organised and neat then everything should be ok :-)

I try! Not enough shelf or flat space to do so - that's the problem over here!
DeleteI thought maybe I was the only one that watched Hoarders and was eyeing their stuff. Not the dog poop, but the vintage stuff they tend to accumulate. I would probably be a hoarder if it wasn't for my massive cleaning sprees I go on every few months.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there's a few others out there. I remember spotted Butterprint once!
DeleteThis woman is me in 10 years...maybe 5 even. I've got all of my Pyrex collecting dust right now because I'm too afraid to sell them!
ReplyDeleteWe're in the same boat!
DeleteThis is what I'm afraid of. I won't let my BF watch this episode. He hates the show as it is - it makes him mad, but this hoarder is the most like me, because she collects... it would probably cause an issue, lol.
Your elf sitting on your Pyrex bowls is great I've found a few over the years like him.
ReplyDeleteDenise
Thanks! & lucky - I love these guys.
Deletei'm drooling over your pyrex finds as usual...! :)
ReplyDeletethe table cothes are very cute. Thanks for hosting. I really like your blog.
