Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Flea Market Finds

As always, some fun finds & linking up with Flea Market Finds with Her Library Adventures.

My absolute favourite find this week is this The White Spider Rabbit - The White Rabbit - drinking glass, priced at 99cents from Goodwill! I looked, but can't find any information on the glass. Alice In Wonderland drinking glass set? I've never seen any glasses like it before. Anybody got anything?

We brought my up cat, Miss Hands (named after the infamous Mr. Hands), to Pickering to finish up her spaying, she got her stitches snipped & she's all done - yay! & I went to the Value Village up in Ajax, which has never produced anything too interesting, but picked up this Pyrex jar, which smells so strongly of paprika that when I opened it in the car the scent instantly filled up the whole car & my boyfriend yelled at me to close it.
(vintage 1975 Pyrex, Corning birds jar)

OMG - it looks so filthy because i had it soaking with dish soap & water.
It's actually extremely clean! Just want that overbearing stench of paprika gone!
Some 7UP Uncola glasses - I see these often, but these were in absolute MINT condition, so too good to pass up.

Another Anchor dominos bowl. They had another one in the shop, but I DON'T BUY CHIPPED THINGS.. anymore.

A KISS record for 99cents & some more Treasure Troll wrapping paper!

I just wanted to post these, an eBay buy - silicone cupcake cups! Love the colours & they were about 6 bucks. Absolutely perfect for pizza cupcakes!

Also, Tuesday - if the boyfriend is rested - a suburban strip thrifting trip.

Oh, one last find.. months ago I found this vintage Screen Stars t-shirt. A short I liked to say back in high school:

Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Flea Market Finds

Sir Thrift-A-Lot
in Flea Market Finds.

All kinds of stuff from every decade this week from all over the GTA!

I've been on the hunt for a vintage metal cake tray to bake quaint little cakes for the boyfriend, but never expected to find one at a thrift store & it was priced to move at $3.99. It not only made it back to my house, it also made the cashier quite nostalgic about her mothers cooking - the best cooking she's ever had. It made me remember the news piece I had seen on how when something is "made with love" it "tastes better". read it here. It was found at Salvation Army.

Also found at another Salvation Army is this mint condition 475-B Spring Blossom Green piece - $5.99. Besides the 40 year old masking tape holding it every which way, there was not a scratch on it.

Dukes of Hazzard flat sheet... have wanted it... $2.99. Value Village.

Random Pyrex lids. You never know where it's better half will turn up. Two clear ones from Goodwill, the Butterfly Gold from Value Village. & $2.52 for The Pyrex Cookie Jar. I have seen lots of these, but they have always been so scratched up! Glad I finally snagged one! I have the cracker one already, just one more to go! The Butterfly Gold casserole was only $4.99 at Value Village - needs a good scrubbin', but afterward she'll look good as new!

Pretty in Pink soundtrack on vinyl, $1.99, still in packaging... Value Village.

Lastly, two little owls.

1980's Invasion!

Today I left early from work to go to the hospital - a mild case of appendicitis. A few hours later, 8 vials of blood taken & two prescriptions, I was on my way!
Like the true thriftaholic that I am, I didn't go straight home. I went thrifting with appendicitis. Turned up some great 1980's finds!
(Thrift Share with APRON THRIFT GIRL)

Value Village had a vintage haul in board games, got Pac-Man, Strawberry Shortcake & ET. They had many others, a great vintage Casper board game, but the box was so destroyed it wasn't worth it. I'm glad to have these fun games in my collection! Another stop at Goodwill turned up this vintage The Smurf Game! Priced at a steal - $2.02!!

Value Village also had some great vintage sheets! Holly Hobbie & a new, crisp Popples flat sheet have been added to my collection. Was lucky enough to pick up the Popples pillow case as well.

A find from awhile ago, Strawberry Shortcake memo pad, 1981. Love it. Another love it is this Pac-Man vinyl - have yet to listen to it, but I'm sure it's going to be great!

Happy Thrifting!

Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Flea Market Finds

This past week was full of thrifting fun - a lot of scores & quite a few thrifting adventures!

One such adventure was a stop at Talize, which is a thrift shop chain similar in size and set up as Value Village, only smaller in number compared to stores & Talize carries a small section of new "dollar store" like crap. This Talize stop brings us to the famous "you never know what you are going to find". Just before the cashes after we`ve shopped the store there is a literal mountain of vinyls. It was chaos. They were piled everywhere, in milk crates, in boxes, 7inches were tossed everywhere. This wasn`t there last week. They usually have only half a book shelf of vinyl, this mountain of chaos had to of been at minimum 1,300 records! We picked through each one, coming up with only Nancy Sinatra "Boots" & "Pearl" by Janis Joplin. They were charging 99cents each, buy 3 get 2 free. Quite a few fun covers in there & it probably took us a good 25-30 minutes to go through it all.

This week seemed to be a week of owls, which is never a bad thing.
I have a similar owl I picked up at another Goodwill, but this guys eyes match my kitchen decor, so he`ll be sitting in there. Something very cool is below is the pencil holder for the owl stationary set I picked up a couple weeks ago, now I have the letter holder, pencil holder & tape dispenser! & a set of owl Christmas bulbs, can`t wait for a tree next year.

Fun vintage Part-T Forks & Party Picks, Picks being from Hallmark.

Here is a beautiful set of bowls I posted about on The Pyrex Collective earlier this week. I had thought that they were delphite, but after seeking advice from fellow collectors, I have been told that they look like Azurite from Fire King. I have to agree.

And no thrifting week is complete without a bit of nostalgic pop culture, a 1988 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles metal TV tray for $2 from Goodwill & a complete, very good condition 1977 original Star Wars board game. They had covered this in clear packing tape, went around 3 times over the width of the game. I was very lucky to get the tape off without damaging the box. I understand why thrift stores do this (so a kid doesn`t come along & throw the pieces everywhere), but can`t they thing of a better way?

Dumpster Dived!

Take a peek at what I've been picking out of the trash...

A Bjork CD, a Charlie & the Chocolate Factory DVD, Weekly World News magazines, Rainbow Brite, Care Bears & Donald Duck Christmas record (among about 20 others), Working Girl on VHS, 4 great condition EGG magazines & 6 professionally framed Tom of Finland prints that had never been taken out of their original wrapping.

This isn't all. Not to long ago I picked about 200 cds out of the trash with my bestie & we kept what we wanted, sold 7 or so for about $25 (they gave us a quarter for Britney Spears) & another was sold on eBay for $30, the rest were donated to Goodwill. I've got a Boy George & Madonna poster, not pictured & a stack of books and other magazines. Funniest thing yet..? A garbage bag full of gay VHS porn. I guess it has to go somewhere, right? That stayed down there right next to the dumpster, but it was gone the next day. Another book in my "to read" pile is selling for $60 on Amazon - picked from the trash!

PS: this is only in the past few months... wonder what's to come? Will Sir Thrift-A-Lot have a monthly Dumpster Dived! post? Stay tuned!

Last Thrift of the Year! Goodbye 2011!

Today marks my last thrifting trip of 2011. Here are my finds.

Thrifty Things Friday!

From Value Village, this 1981 Smurfs keychain - 99cents!

Also 99cents, this New Kids on the Block pillow sham from 1990, Big Step Productions INC. Goodwill.

From another Goodwill I picked up these two albums. One titled "A Photo A Day: Your Year In Photos". I believe it has 365 slots (next year is a leap year, isn't it?) with spaces next to it to write the date & little tidbits of information. I am planning this as a project for the year 2012. I get one grace day. This album was $2.52. This particular Goodwill has enacted a "NO PRICE, NO SALE" rule, luckily, they sold me this without a price. The next album is a "Takeout Menu Organizer", very handy if I ordered out more often, but too neat to leave behind for $1.51. Never used & from 2007 from Knock, Knock. You can check it out on Amazon right here, but looks like it's no longer available. It's pretty cool! Might come in handy this winter.

Got two records, Soul Asylum - Hang Time & 10,000 Maniacs - In My Tribe. $1.51 each. Goodwill. Jeez, went to 3 Goodwills today!

When was your last thrift of 2011? What did you find?

Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Thrift Share Monday!

Another load of fun finds!

Here's my favourite of the week being held up by my bestie,
a vintage tea towel - Irish Linen, "Owls by Ulster".
I love the colours & the graphics are amazing! I want to frame this & put it up on the wall, I find it much more fascinating & it looks much more pretty than the mass produced prints my boyfriend wants from Ikea! I could tell he wanted to burst out laughing when I told him my plans..(Value Village)

A very close second -

PINK GOOSEBERRY. - #475-B Casserole.
Have been so jealous of everybody's finds in pink Pyrex! I thought I would have been jumping for joy when I found pink at the thrifts, but I think with the price tag it didn't hit me like it should have. Value Village.

Also above, you'll see two beautiful Fire King mugs (up for sale in my future ETSY shop - you can see the update at the end of this post) & a groovy Fire King bowl! MUGS - Goodwill. BOWL - Value Village.

Another Irish Linen I couldn't leave behind since it read DAISY CHAIN. Future ETSY shop item.

& these:

& finally I bring you this KMFDM vinyl - Juke Joint Jezebel. Definitely one of my favourite KMFDM songs, one I had been listening to since I was quite young. I was excited to find this on the same stop as the pink Gooseberry. Had been to the store the day before too!

Here's the video, check it out!

ETSY SHOP UPDATE:
So, I had updated my address & set up my shop the next day at about 4PM. 4:37PM rolls around & I get a called from VISA LOSS PREVENTION - my credit card has been compromised. Have to pick up my VISA from the bank.. they wouldn't ship it to my house. Seems like ETSY doesn't want me..
