Thriftasaurus #117

Thriftasaurus #117!

Welcome to THRIFTASAURUS #117! How are you!?

The thrifts weren't too good to me this week for my own personal collections, all I got was this adorable vintage rainbow stationery set, cute, right? I need my penpals back from the back of Teen Bopper Magazine! I had one if the Netherlands & one somewhere in the Caribbean.

I had a couple requests to see my kneehugger collection,  but it's not all here! Some are relaxing in Michigan at my father's house waiting to come home. Ordered from Instagram & eBay in the last few months. Very neat ones. So when I showcase my collection,  I totally want them in there!

I am still sick (2 weeks now!)... so Christmas isn't fully packed up. That & I have been waiting on going to Target to get some bins to match the one I already own. The one week I want to go to Target (I have been there 4x since they opened in Canada), they announce they are pulling out of Canada. When they opened in Canada & I went into the store, I told my BF they weren't going to last. I love being right. We are going Monday - hope the tubs are still there!  Have heard people say that Target hasn't been so busy, lol.

As promised, here is the last of my Christmas for the year! Loooooove it all!

This is such an amazing addition to a winking Santa mug collection. It's full of (not too interesting) vintage wrapping paper. Also a very cheap set of vintage Xmas cards! LOVE. I took a pic of my fav cards from the box.

A pixie like I had never seen before.

A pixie decoration & a very dirty kneehugger. Check out the before & after. Wonder if that was the reason he was the only one left in the market, priced at $4?

  • This thrifted sugarbowl? Is it a sugarbowl?

I really had no interest in these German candy nodders until I saw them in real life. They were $25 & up, I didn't wanna pay that, lol. I found a good deal on eBay & snatched it up! Later saw this in an antique market for $85. I know it's not worth $85, but, makes me feel good.

Little things.

My new favourite decoration!!

& 2 more kneehuggers - from the 400 Antique Market.

That's it for this edition of Thriftasaurus. Can't wait to see what you've dug up!

Thriftasaurus #115

Thriftasaurus #115

Greetings everyone! We're almost there, 10 days! I only set up one very large shelf this year, my BF didn't approve. If I had set up everything, wonder if he would have packed up & left, lol? Next year, when things are a little more organized around here, hopefully by next year I've gotten a better paying job & & we've moved into a new, larger unit (2 bedroom? a full room just for me??).

Great treasures picked for me this week & last, lots to share! I'll start with all my vintage Christmas! It isn't a lot, but it's good enough for me.

Knee huggers. I just, I am a man obsessed. These are from an antique market. I left one behind - priced too high for what it was. All these are new to my collection.

All the following are thrift store finds. These guys with hats are made in Japan, as if you couldn't tell! There was one red one there, alone in a bag for $4.99 with a bunch of other garbage, but it was damaged. Too bad, eh? These were all $3.99 with a bunch of other garbage, plus I used my 30% off card.

Also some little made in Japan houses. Cute, right?

I also bought some deer. There is a few other Christmas items, but I forgot to photograph! Next week??

That's all for vintage Christmas! Now on to some others...

I am in the market for some beautiful planters for Spring. I need to find a great plant stand for the balcony, too. I have one other planter that was made in Germany, but that's it so far. I'd love to have more like this. I guess this one is made in Italy.

I want this plant stand. With the money I have been making on reselling, I might resort to eBay too buy it. I recently made thrift store purchases of 3 items that similar category items sell from anywhere from $15 to $500. I have no way to gauge how much mine will sell for as they are not listed. The anticipation is killer because I won't be listing until after the holidays! I may paint the stand with Plasti-Dip so I am able to paint & if I ever decide to sell, I can remove & still maintain the original condition. & you know, wait for a good deal, not paying $100 for it.

I couldn't resist buying these ET puffy stickers... something I have been creeping on eBay every once in awhile & finally showed it's face inside the thrift!

I bought another single orange starburst glass - I now I have set of 6. Love it! These are my favourite glasses I own.

& lastly, this owl was a buck, I have 2 others in different colours & I love them, too. A small ear chip, but something you wouldn't notice on display!

& I got a polka dot Hazel Atlas bowl! This is the 2nd I found this year, 3rd in my collection.  I need that damn turquoise one to complete my set!!

Still so much more to show! But I won't keep you, I know everyone is busy & there is lots to check out below, too!

Thriftasaurus #109

Thriftasaurus #109

It's November, can I start decorating for Christmas? I'm not much for a Halloweener, so I'm kinda glad that's over, however, I think I may decorate more for it next year. I didn't take out anything from storage this year, even though I have a few vintage decorations.

I'm still bringing a lot home from the thrifts. Usually they're bone dry around Halloween for me with all the extra people in the stores shopping for their Halloween costumes.

I love these vintage notepads. I was so excited about them that I didn't even notice that there was something in the else in the bag that I could possibly resell until I got into the car. The thing can be sold for approximately $30 on eBay. These vintage pads are for the Enterprise Railway Equipment Company which was located at 59 East Van Buren Street, Chicago.

This owl canister has a crack down the middle & is pretty nasty, but I just bought it for the lid. I've got a full set, but the smallest one is missing the lid.

I always love finding vintage cards, even if there is just a couple in a bag, I'll buy it. Makes me happy!

Friendship lids! I don't find lids too often anymore & I rarely, if ever, remember finding decorated lids on their own. I found a set of 3 each at 99cents. I have yet to remove the tags (dirty dishes haven't left our sink. Yes, we're pigs.), pretty good condition. Why did they put the prices right on the pattern? Not that it's going to matter because it's not going to take the pattern off when I remove them, but.. yeah. Another customer infront of me, "you know there's bowls that go with those." "Wow, thanks. I know. I have them at home." Cashier thought they were some sort of saucer. I could see that.

If you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen this turquoise Federal Mod Flowers bowl. However, if you don't - here it is. Have you seen it before? Nobody on Instagram had when I asked.
Look at this vintage, made in Japan ornament. It was in the bag with the Santa & Mrs. Clause I bought last week. Keeping or selling, trade not sure. A bottle brush diorama ornament!

This is such a crazy, unique tea towel. Love it.

Who has heard of this game? This one had been opened, but never been used (all pieces are still in tact). They supposedly started producing it again, so you can buy it again, but nothing like the original, eh?

"Where the dealers are always one step ahead of the narc!"

Well, that's it for me. I obviously have more stocked away. The place is a mess!! Gotta get it cleaned up or I'm not allowed to make any stops on our upcoming trip. How awful is that? He's never laid down the law before, haha.

Thriftasaurus #106

Thriftasaurus #106

Good afternoon thrifters! Hope you had a great, fun filled treasure hunting week.

I had some fun finds this week, a few I have even previously looked up on eBay, so not bad at all!

I picked up a few pieces of clothing this week, a vintage Screen Stars Paula Abdul t-shirt & a Fred Perry Laurel Wreath Jacket. I don't make it a habit to check out the sweaters & jackets, but it was raining & I actually thought, "maybe I'll find a Fred Perry jacket." Well, lo & behold. I wish that worked with Pyrex! *I will find a Shamrock Salad Set & a full set of Pink Butterprint & it won't be chipped or dishwasher damaged & it will have lids & brackets* - that ain't too much to ask for, right? These are 2 things I've eBay'd in the past. & black is my colour.

I've wanted one of these pixies for a long time! I've seen a handful in antique markets, but I don't got $20 for one vintage pixie. This was a thrift store find... yellow isn't really my colour, but this beggar won't be a chooser.

A large lot of vintage/retro greeting cards. (Not all posted, just a sample).

I already have a set of 4 of these glasses, but can always use an extra. I really think these are my favourite that I own. They had another one but it had a rim chip.

I bought this bag of magnets for the vintage Pac Man & Space Invaders one, but they  had a few other cute ones.

& ummm... also picked these up in a grab bag, cute enough.

Well that's it for me! Hope you had a fun week, too.

Thriftasaurus #105

Thriftasaurus #105

Thanks everyone for stopping by last week - to the readers & the ones who linked up!

I had a successful week this week. I am satisfied. Not satisfied enough to not shop next week because, well, are we ever? LOL. You just never know what's going to be around the next corner, so I guess that's what keeps us all going!

This has to be one of my favourite finds of the year. It's vintage. It's cute. It seems to have no actual purpose. Does anyone know anything about it? It was from the "boutique" area of a local thrift that is a registered charity (so tax free), however, they charge $4 for a used hand towel that has been washed to death & $10 for a plain grey shirt.. this was $8. I'm not getting their pricing. Possible they charge a lot for clothing since credits are given from the charity? I once saw a junkie in there with like 40 pieces of clothing & her & the checkout girl were going through them because her credit only allowed her to buy like $75 in merch or something. I don't know. I'm just like "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I love this."

About 3 years ago I wanted some pink bulbs for my 4 foot aluminum tree, been on the search ever since until this week, when I found some at the thrift. Among them, there were others. Among those, I left some behind (scratched up & not my thing). Since I now have 3 aluminum trees, I needed the majority of the bulbs anyways (in a variety of colours). When I went back, the damaged bulbs were gone & the blue cartoon set was in a grab bag, fingered open. I wonder if the person who bought those damaged bulbs fingered this bag opened & passed? Anyways, these are from the 1960's & from Eastern Germany.

This 444 is also from the same thrift. I also left the 443 Friendship behind, pattern nice & scratched up, enough fun for daily use, but nahhhhh.

I probably know who bought the stuff I left behind. Some local resellers, but maybe not It amazes me what people will buy from resellers sometimes. I bought 2 080 in mint condition with lids for $18 shipped online. There were people selling them for $20, lidless online... people actually bit! Shoooooocked!

My turtle senses were tingling when I found these 2 vintage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle watches NIP in a grab bag for $2.99. Also found a Zybot from 1984 NIP - different thrift!

Do you not love this McCall's cookie cookbook? Look at these illustrations...

A couple vintage cards & a set of unused Hallmark Christmas stationery... The anniversary card says, "of nuts" inside & I sat there in the store for 30 seconds or more thinking... "I don't get it.." it finally sunk in. Couldn't believe myself.

There are a lot of people on my Facebook already complaining about seeing Christmas stuff, man, c'mon guys! I wish Christmas stuff was out year round at the thrifts.

Can't wait to see what you've picked up this week, link up below!
