Hey fellow thrifters! How are you all?

As you can see, I am a little late this week, with good reason: my father got married in Michigan! Better late than never. If you're curious, I did end up finding a suit. I went to a thrift store that I detest going to. It's full of pretentious hipsters who think they're hot shit for shopping at the thrift, a touch of crazy, more idiots than any other thrift I have ever been in, people who won't move their cart, people you want to box & the place is so picked clean you are usually picking through trash. That suit... it was the most I ever paid for anything at a thrift store - $54.99. I was embarrassed buying it, but I had no other option. I couldn't find a suit in any other store - including retail. What's a boy to do?

I was thrilled to thrift in my hometown, got to only 2 thrift stores & the antique market. Nothing at the thrifts & a few things at the antique market, but nothing I wanted to bring home (it was chipped or dirty). They had a beautiful teak dresser/buffet/display case thing for $150, a formica table for $40 (that would sell for $200ish in my city)... good deals to be had! A Jadeite tear drop bowl - $21, though it was chipped. & can you believe, I sat down on the train, looked up & saw a known reseller & fellow collector... she was on the same train, in the same car, going to the same destination. How bizarre, eh? Every good thrifter gets in a little bit of thrifting, so I blame my lack of finds on her - hah.

So, that all aside, I picked up this elastica sticker last week, an online purchase for $2 from 1995. I remember wearing an elastica shirt in high school & having some raver kid laugh at me..

Here are some elastica videos...

I've got some other stuff to post that I picked up from my father while in Michigan, that will have to wait! I'm tired & a little hungover. Not sure if they say this at every wedding, but they said our party drank more booze than any other wedding there before. May be true - they did run out of both white wine & vodka.

Hope it's not too late & you join in below! I read some blogs on the train on my way home, some pretty vintage finds out there!
Happy Hunting this week. I'll be out there full force. My grandfather gave me some money & wants me to buy something nice for myself, here's a quote from the wedding from him (he's 90):

"If you're not having a good time, don't blame yourself, blame someone else."
(haha)

Thanks to everybody who linked up last week - great finds!

This week in thrifting..

WOW. All I got to say. I went to so many stores. A pair of resellers I follow on Facebook did make a run on my stomping grounds the day before, so they may have picked up all the good stuff! I feel like the dealers weren't out (aside from these 2 the day before). I did see this one guy. We made eye contact. I can't for the life of me remember where I used to see/talk to him & it's driving me up the wall! MENTAL. I am thinking the old Goodwill.

OK... I must admit, I do have a haul. I bet you already know that from my photo. There is a store I usually skip out on. I haven't really found anything to scream home about aside from a set of vintage pink blender S&P's &, a couple of vintage cards & a 1980's Transformers sleeping bag. This is in 4 years or so of going to this store. About 100 times. Maybe bought 7 other things there. So, usually skip it. It's also the store I wrote into because the manager was selling stuff to a customer "out the back" & the customer was chuckling, "YOU CAN'T DO THIS AT GOODWILL! - HAHAHAHAHHA!" I managed to get a hold of the District Manager of that particular store, we spoke & there must have been some kind of investigation as I never seen that manager again until I saw him at another thrift store nearby. He doesn't seem to work there anymore either. Anyways, this is the last store I visited. I was going to skip it for another store that barely ever has anything, but decided on this one. I had a reason. I now have a theory. I'll try it out again. It's a thrifting secret though.

I have been looking for Simon for years! & story of my life - I find it when they reissue it. Ah well. I've got the great old one, with great vintage graphics & it was $2!

An extremely desired item off my list!
freakin' tape! I understand why they do it, but c'mon!
just tape the sides, not the whole thing. I'm usually
pretty decent, but I had to leave tape in 2 places
because it would rip 2 small pieces off & look dumb.
green, red. green, red, red. green, red, red, yellow.
green, red, red, yellow, blue. green, red, red, yellow,
blue, red. green, red, red, yellow, red, blue, yellow.
I'm out.
I bought this bowl & scarf. These were a buck each. I bought the scarf because I thought I could resell it. When I searched it on eBay at the thrift, it said they sold really well. When I got home, eBay & Google barely heard of it. Have you?

That's not a hair. It's a fringe from the end of the scarf.
Some stickers. WOW

I thought this was cute, 1950's? This is exactly how things go when I pour stuff. A little for you, a lot for me. If were single & dating, I'd have to be careful who I brought this out for. Imagine one night I took this out of the cupboard not knowing I had a "Short Short Man" with me? How intimidating!

$5.99 for all! PYREX!
It was all taped together & you know how I can't say no to a Butterprint.
& I actually don't have one single version of this Butterfly Gold. MINT.

Hope you vote - thank you if you do!
How was your week in thrifting? Any good finds?
Like anything of mine? Keeping warm?

Wanted Wednesday: Tales From The Crypt

hi!

I've had some free time lately without a computer (but now I'm using my BF's computer, which is an ACER piece of garbage), so I managed to actually do something with the stuff that lurks inside my home.

The frames are snap lock & are from Germany - found them in the trash a couple years ago. They had Tom of Finland sketches in them (repros, I assume)... I just flipped 'em over & put the $10ish shipped set of postcards on top. Have to get the man of the house to drill them into the concrete wall, or whatever he's gonna do to get them up there.

Can you believe these shoes only cost $39.99 (in Canada) at the most expensive place that sells skate clothing? I have a hard enough time finding my size of shoe on regular price shoes (everyone seems to be my size) & never, ever have I found my size of shoe priced at last pair price in a shop. So surprised!

on to...
WANTED WEDNESDAY!

I was searching eBay, bored outta my mind at work, these are hilarious pop culture vending machine prism stickers - I'd love to ad them to my collection!!

Wasn't able to get in much thrifting this week, but was still out & about a little bit.

Something about Blue Horizon.. mint condition pieces won't stop coming home with me.

Surprised to find this Rainbow Brite cake pan, along with the original instructions. I had yet to add this to my cake pan collection & according to the tag, it had been there for 3 days.

I've wanted some risque/nude woman swizzle sticks to add to my collection & finally came across some yesterday - $1.99. I'm assuming these are old & not reproductions based on similar ones on eBay.

1977 DC Comics flat sheet. I found the set of pillow cases a while back. I don't collect fitted sheets.

Some 1970's Halloween hangings. I got 3 33" Beistle Nite-Glo Skeletons from 1970 & a 1979 Beistle Flameproof banner that says Halloween - all sealed. I also got 5 of these textbooks on interior design from International Correspondence School, Scranton, PA from 1961. Most of the pictures are black & white, but interesting to flip through & read about interior design of that time period. & some stickers (70's, I am guessing).

I've never seen anything Pee Wee Herman in a thrift before, even though this is a repro, I had to pick it up. Glad to have it.

I can't wait for next week - nice shopping trip planned. Hope you all have a wonderful week, I'm going to try to scan a few images from those textbooks this week.

Can't wait to see what stuff you found this week. Have a good long weekend if you get Monday off!

Can finally cross this one off my list! & got 2 extra lids in case another bottom part happens along. I bought this weeks ago, at the end of May when I went to Ohio.

Some other Pyrex finds this week, probably bought out of desperation or "empty hand syndrome". I don't even think the 471 I'm not very educated on (I am guessing Homestead & didn't come with a clear lid?), but the size comes in handy for me a lot, so I decided home it comes. The 024 turquoise, well, it had obviously been discarded by someone else.. utensil marks, a couple of see through parts.. no lid.

I found 3 bags of McDonald's promo crap - they also had a couple more, one with floss & Pizza shoelaces. My favorite is the wrapping paper, Christmas cards & the puffy stickers. I listed some of the McDonalds stuff on eBay. I'm not sure if this was just a Canadian thing, but I remember going to McDonalds & you ask for "Treat of the Week" & it was just some random junk that made the kids happy that was free - stuff like the stuff below. No one I talk to remembers it.

My favourite find this week is below.. two very good condition Hole t-shirts from 1994. I very seldom look through the t-shirts at the thrifts because they are vintage picked, but I guess they do miss some, but generally, it isn't worth my time. When I was picking up my new in box Friendship Pyrex this Monday, I had moments to spare at the thrift store by the guys house, so I headed for the tees. As I was getting to the end of the rack, I was smirking inside thinking, "figures, vintage picked, as always!" Couple shirts down - this very shirt I need for my Hole t-shirt collection! I owned one in the 1990's, bought for $9 at Giant Tiger (a discount store). I was psyched! I haven't bought a Hole shirt at a thrift in 13 years, but, I did stop looking at tees a couple years ago. About 15 shirts down, another one! What are the odds!? Hole is hands down my all time favourite band, my originally pressed Hole CD collection is around 100 discs. Besides my coin collection (which only a few special ones remain, I sold off the bulk of it a few years ago), this is my oldest collection.

WWF glasses.

I'm listing some stuff on eBay in the next couple days. I listed the Boy Scout patches I got extra in a bag, I made about $40. I am listing some of the McDonald's stuff (including one package of wrapping paper, some window clings, treats of the week, puffy stickers), X-Files tee, Primus tee, Bud Light fabric (LOL). Just a nice mixture.

This upcoming week, I don't know if I'll get out much. Monday is 50% off day at Value Village & Tazlie. The Goodwill by my house is baron, it's closing down in early July. I am going away Thursday. But I did forget to take pictures of a two small things I bought, so, at least I'll have something to show next week.

Link up below if you found something this week!

This week I'm going to showcase just a few of my local recent finds as well as some of my finds from two weeks ago when I took a trip to Ohio!

My dog, Charlie, had his operation yesterday... all seems to have went well, even though his poor ear looks shredded. Today is the full day of two weeks of coneage... something I am dreading. Today has been draining enough, even had to slap down an extra $80 for some painkillers & sedatives (I think I'll need one of those sedatives, too). I think the only complication is going to be from his shaking it. I can't wait until these two weeks are OH-VER... but, on the 15th, my boyfriend is going back to Columbus, so it's me & the pup.. going insane together!

Here is some Pyrex. I bought the Butterprint in Springfield, OH. I couldn't remember if I had it already & as you can see, came to the conclusion I didn't. As soon as I got back to Columbus, I was like.. "uhhh, ya, of course I have this." I need a log. I bought the Homestead because it was a nice price. Homestead bowls is what I grew up with. Not something I really want to remember, but I always love refrigerator dishes.  I have other Pyrex finds from this trip.. for next week! Spring Blossom Green fridgie local find this week.

2 more Lipton Glasbake mugs to go for the complete collection.

I really never noticed how much I enjoyed buying smalls... a bunch of pins, the smaller ones from Springfield, OH.. the larger ones, made in Japan, bought locally. I got two sets of the Urkel ones.. each set a buck! Some Cabbage Patch doll vending machine stickers, 20 pack, $2. Troll gift bags, rad, BF hates them.

These cards.. I was so psyched when I found them. Vintage, black Christmas cards - rock on! only $4? C'mon down. When I got into the car, pulled them out.. damn thing's were personalized... I guess I can use them, P-Touch mine & the BF's name on them? I feel like anybody who went to the Springfield Antique Mall who reads this is laughing at me.. & the seller is like "FINALLY! I sold those damn cards." LOL.

I found these glasses locally about a month ago. I am dedicating them to FARM GIRL PINK (http://farmgirlpink.blogspot.ca/). They are all the colours you wat in a glass. Also found a Smurfette glass. She's classy.

I was finally lucky enough to add a vintage Halloween decoration to my collection. These in Canada are very expensive. According to the antique mall owner, these were the decorations were the sellers mothers. Can't wait to find more affordable ones to add to my collection...

& yet another addition to another collection... a toothpick holder, for an affordable $5.
