Hump Day Dump & Weigh In Wednesday

Today I bring you,
Hump Day Dump
&
Weigh In Wednesday

Hump Day Dump is my weekly thrift finds up to & including Wednesday & Weigh In Wednesday is exactly what it sounds like - I take the plunge onto the scale. I've decided one last try before I sign up for every fast food e-news letter in a 50km radius. The weekly updating here will offer some support & documenting, which can only be a positive thing during my weight loss.

Here's a very kitschy, cute set of Made In Japan googly eyed owl bookends. Price? $2.99 for the set! Cheap, chipless & vintage, just the way I like it. I've tucked them in front of my Butterprint Cinderella bowls - for now.

Another great example of Value Village pricing - a 475-B & 471-B, both near mint, without lids, one huge, one small, priced on separate days, obvs, but both $4.99. Another blogger paid $12.99 for a piece of not so mint Autumn Harvest casserole with lid from Value Village. Not my favourite pattern, but I don't utilize much of my Pyrex for breakage fears, but now, worry free cooking, baking, mixing & eating.

An owl magnet. Reminds me of something my one aunt, who still has her bathroom done up in Butterfly Gold, had.

Adding to my writing tablet collection this past Monday with a Treasure Troll tablet from my favourite tablet makers, C.M. Paula Co., 1992.

Weigh In Wednesday..

236. This is not the weight I want to be. Not at all. This is not the most I have ever weighed, 255 sometime last year, was the most. My weight goal is to lose 46 pounds. I would love to attain this goal by my birthday - August 7th. Next weeks goal: 234. How will i attain this goal? Counting calories, not eating out, hitting up the gym (2x this week so far, thx) even when I feel like absolute shit, while I'm there putting every effort into it - I'm off my butt, I'm there, I'm gonna do this.

Happy Thrifting!

thrifting adventure scheduled: March 16th, 2012 = Toronto to Woodstock, Ontario stopping in Mississauga, Hamilton, Stoney Creek & making a stop off in London to visit friends. One of a Kind Antique Market in Woodstock.

BTW - One of a Kind Antique Market in Woodstock, which has over 400 booths & 50,000 square feet, will be opening a third floor in May 2012!

Major, Killer Thrift Score!

The pictures tell it all...

Took the bus with the bestie to Woodstock to visit the One of a King Antique Market & found some great bowls! I got the Gooseberry #444 (which is for trade), my first piece of aqua, it's labeled as a 411... & a beautiful polka dot Federal bowl for a mere $2 - $2 for a bowl at an antique market - this place rocks!

Also, this killer vintage metal Torcan fans are from there! I paid $20 & $25 each. They are nice & I'm proud to be their new owner.

On the way home a quick stop at the Cambridge Value Village had my heart skipping 3 beats when I spotted the full set of pink Pyrex bowls! Less than $12 for the set & great condition! Also these two killer mugs from Anchor, I swear that I have this same pattern from a different brand.

This hanging set of lemon salt & pepper shakers, chipped in a section & possibly missing something from it. Cute decor piece for $1.99.

These canisters. Oh my these canisters. I wanted a turquoise set sooo bad. This wasn't the set I was eying online, this one is even better - love the black lettering on the turquoise with the nice shiny lid. It's obviously missing one tin, but they still look amazing on my counter!!

Also from the One of a Kind Antique Market are these vintage Happy Birthday cards, they are really unique & I didn't mind paying $1 a piece for them.

And finally, this Pyrex Meadow promotional casserole #043. I've never seen it before yesterday, picked up at a new Value Village that opened 2 days previous in Mississauga - it's a big one (THE STORE!). Definitely love the colours, but not my favourite pattern. This baby is up for trade! Casserole itself is in EXCELLENT condition, with the lid. There is a 3cm issue (cracking?) with the lid. Contact me! Email in my profile!! (i trade: butterprint, pink, gooseberry, aqua & fridgies)

Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Thrift Share Monday!

Sir Thrift A Lot in Thrift Share Monday!

Above little vintage owl is a lone salt & pepper shaker, made in Japan. I searched the shelves of Goodwill - high & low for his pair, but turned up nothing. Still bought him because he'll look killer on display & couldn't go wrong for 99cents!

My thrifting has been at a minimum lately, but it's about to pick up. Enjoy this cool retro pick from August - a golf bag & golf clubs 8 set of vintage/retro/whatevs swizzle sticks!

Also enjoy this retro eBay buy! Pac-Man wallpaper! I'm doing my bathroom in full out Pac-Man - stay tuned for updates! You're gonna love it! Sold some items I had around the house to buy it on eBay to afford it. I'm sooo excited for this project! It's going to take some time & some skill, but when it's done I'm just know I'm going to feel great about it!

Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Thrift Share Monday!

SIR THRIFT-A-LOT
Thrift Share Monday

Taking part in Thrift Share Monday today!

I picked up this lovely leopard print hat box for $3.99, hat boxes are a long lost favourite of mine & leopard print is always a must in my books. The only hat box I have left holds a bunch of the boyfriend's chords & I had found it in the trash many, many years ago. The vintage golf bag swizzle sticks, which I think are a complete set at an 8 count, were $4 during my trip to Windsor at the One of a Kind Antique Market. Owls also picked up at Talize on my trip to Windsor. Made in Mexico & another item to hit up the Etsy shop when it arrives.

What a lovely Pyrex dish. Yesterday I did a posting for a 'Who Wore It Better' after picking this up at Goodwill for $4.04, lidless, lid is borrowed for the photo op.. absolutely loving this. I have seen pics of this one online, but the colour is absolutely bold & striking in person.

What do you think of this radical bi-centennial plate? It's so thick, I love it! 99cents at Goodwill!

I couldn't say know to this $2.99 Dick Tracey flat sheet. Also picked up on that trip to Windsor at Value Village. I never would have thought my ass would be on Madonna's face. Who knew?

ETSY SHOP UPDATE:
I've put off opening up my Etsy shop for one main reason - laziness. The only thing I had to do was make a phone call to Visa to update my address from the move. It has been 2 & a half months - lazy. I'm glad I waited. The guy I spoke to waived my interest for the next 2 months - that would have been almost $250! Feels too great!

Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Thrift Share Monday!

Finds from this past weekend & from the last couple weeks. All fabulous!

A visited Southworks this weekend in Cambridge, Ontario this past weekend. It's an antique mall with just over 30,000 square feet, quite large, but not larger than the One of a Kind Antique Mall in Woodstock. Although Southworks has a lot of Pyrex, the price is not right for me & given time I'll find the pieces I desire at the thrifts. Give me convenience or give me death, right? There were two delphite refrigerator dishes, but I had a stern voice tell me to pass, especially since I was spending $18 on this lamp below.

Back onto Southworks. Of the two other antique malls I have been to, this has been my list favourite. They had some wonderful stuff, but it has been more expensive & the shopping experience was less personal. Way too much stuff behind glass, quite expensive compared to the others I have been too & the staff were walking around watching you waaay too often.

Two sets of salt & pepper shakers I picked up at Southworks. The dogs are so depressing & that's why I love them. The deer are quite fancy, beautiful even. Looking at them makes me smile - one extreme to another I supposed. I'm quite fond of the deer, such fantastic condition. They need a better photo. They are going in my glass case. Did I tell you? I got a glass case? No? I'll have to tell you about it later.

I visited a Value Village this weekend, which my bestie & her mother brought me too, a recently opened one, they look so neat when they open, so organized. I happened upon another metal globe - priced to move at $5.99. The zodiac globe! Unfortunately, I either didn't notice or broke it on the way home - there is a dent in North America & it fell off it's axis (is that what you call it?). Still great decor!

A find from One of a Kind. It cost me $12.50, but I've seen uglier scales go for upwards of $8 at the thrifts & I want sorta a turquoise kitchen. This will do wonders if I ever decide to diet!

And what do you think of my new sewing machine salt & pepper shakers? Cheap too! Another Cambridge find!

Thrifty Things Friday: Pyrex Haul!

If you are a regular reader, you may know about 2 weeks ago I made a long trip to Windsor, Ontario stopping at maybe 15 thrift stores along the way, including a massive antique warehouse in Woodstock, Ontario. I haven't blogged much since then, have been exhausted ever since!!!, but here is my Pyrex from that trip!

My first pick up was this #403 Spring Blossom Green bowl in Burlington in OK condition.

I got a wonderful, wonderful birthday present from my friend Agnes - #503 yellow refrigerator dish. It completes my primary refrigerator dish set, minus the lids for the red ones... unless we're borrowing from some of the others I own. This piece is shown in the picture with a yellow #501 & a yellow #502, but priced reasonable, in great condition, sans lids & both found in the same both at the Woodstock antique warehouse.

Now we move onto the Pyrex found in Windsor.
#473, #472, #471 of the beautiful Daisy Cinderella Bake Serve Store Casseroles.
They were $4.99 each, in good condition, lids look a tad bit dish washed, but I love the set.

Seemed a little like a pattern on this trip - either flowers or yellow!

Another thing we saw a lot of was Ghostbusters glasses. The only one we saw that I didn't have in my collection is the one you see below, $1.99. We seen one priced at $5.00, dishwashed to hell, too! Nunzio Scoleri. How cool is he? 1989 Columbia Pictures. Ghostbusters promotional mug

Thanks to the sharp eye of my bestie, I'm now the proud owner of this.

How fab is that? From the tape on the back (and my god is there a disgusting amount of rotting tape on the back), you can tell it's vintage!

Happy thrifting this weekend! Can't wait to see what everybody finds...

Thrift Haul.

As you may or may not know, this past weekend I was was driving down to Windsor from Toronto. A 4 hour drive slowly turned into a 10 hour drive stopping at fast food restaurants, random winners & the occasional thrift shop.

Now, I didn't find as much stuff as I had hoped, but I did find some amazing stuff nonetheless & better yet I found the most amazing shop - One of a Kind Antique Mall. The most gigantic antique mall I have ever been in with over 400 booths & 50 fricking thousand - 50,000 square foot of some reasonably priced & not so reasonably priced items. Some of the not so reasonably priced items that you may desire off eBay, etsy or elsewhere may still be a deal when you factor in the shipping costs. But this place is truly amazing. Quite a sight to see. We spent an hour in here. None of the items below are from the mall though, but these will come sometime this week.

Windsor has an Antique Mall, not quite as big as the one in Woodstock, ON, but good enough. There I found this beautiful Reed and Barton bowl I most likely would have passed right on by if I hadn't been drooling over it on Atomic Betties a little while ago. One of my favourite finds of the trip! The Value Village in Windsor also yielded this porcelain hand. Not sure if I am done collecting those yet. My tastes might have moved on.

Lastly for this post, I have to say my favourite find of the trip. This vintage "bowlers crying towel" might have come in handy had I lost our rock & bowl bowling game later than night. First game came in first, second game came in second & third game was such a mess everyone was bowling for everyone & scores were in the 40s & 60s. I guess rock, bowl & booze does that to you.
