Thriftasaurus Linkup!

Thriftasaurus!

The first Thriftasaurus of November, with an amazing haul from me this week! My boyfriend took me on a trip - we went all over & 2 two antique malls. One antique mall, gorgeous selection of items, the best I've ever seen in an antique mall, stuff I've never seen in my [real] life, just on the net, but for outrageous prices. I have only been to this antique mall once before & left with a Butterprint bowl from a booth that was having a 50% off sale. I had high hopes of finding an amazing Pyrex piece there that I was going to spoil myself with (they have a black dot Fire King bowl that I really want, but $75!). We were on the lookout for fridgies & pink! Slim pickings. I picked up this Daisy Divided for more than I would care to admit, but that's OK!

I'm thinking these might have been the thrift store find of the day, the set was $3.99.

Other Pyrex finds include the 503 from the Primary set, I had previously purchased the lid from Goodwill the week before last, a $2.99 fridgie that someone dumped at the checkout at Value Village (Verde?) & a Butterfly Gold.

Vintage cake toppers & vintage elf Christmas decorations - 'tis the season.

I can never say no to a 1990's troll item (besides the trolls themselves.. or maybe a bookbag or something), so 49cents for this pin, sure.
DC Comics, 1977 pillow cases for 99cents. I would like to sell, but they aren't in great selling condition unfortunately
Annnnd... I'd really like to know if the decanter in the bottom photo is vintage or not (just curious, doesn't matter). I see the decanters often, without lids or shot glasses. This is the first time I have ever seen it with the lid, in mint condition & with all the multi-coloured shot glasses (assuming that there is 4 to the set) & the price is right for eventual booth.
Can anyone confirm it is vintage?

My absolute splurge & favourite find was the Santa in this photo. I have wanted one for years & just recently discovered antique markets (I know, right?), so when I saw it, I picked him up. The Colonel Sanders bank was from Value Village.. I have been eyeing them at the markets, but they were too pricey for me. The price was right at Value Village, so now it's mine. I don't know why I bought that elf. It looks like it has been pissed on, too. Market regret, haha.

I have found mugs of this pattern before, had no clue that they made anything else, but stumbled upon these canisters at Value Village (so damned mad that one is missing a lid!). I believe they are made by Otagiri.

One last thing, this 1960's unused Charlie Brown scrapbook from the thrift. Love it!

I wanted to share this item with you..
Most expensive Value Village item ever?
($229.99 - just under $260 with taxes)
Lady next to her on the left, $179.99)

OK, that was a lot of stuff & a lot of photos. Can't wait to see everything that you've found this past week!

Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Flea Market Finds

Sir Thrift-A-Lot
in Flea Market Finds.

All kinds of stuff from every decade this week from all over the GTA!

I've been on the hunt for a vintage metal cake tray to bake quaint little cakes for the boyfriend, but never expected to find one at a thrift store & it was priced to move at $3.99. It not only made it back to my house, it also made the cashier quite nostalgic about her mothers cooking - the best cooking she's ever had. It made me remember the news piece I had seen on how when something is "made with love" it "tastes better". read it here. It was found at Salvation Army.

Also found at another Salvation Army is this mint condition 475-B Spring Blossom Green piece - $5.99. Besides the 40 year old masking tape holding it every which way, there was not a scratch on it.

Dukes of Hazzard flat sheet... have wanted it... $2.99. Value Village.

Random Pyrex lids. You never know where it's better half will turn up. Two clear ones from Goodwill, the Butterfly Gold from Value Village. & $2.52 for The Pyrex Cookie Jar. I have seen lots of these, but they have always been so scratched up! Glad I finally snagged one! I have the cracker one already, just one more to go! The Butterfly Gold casserole was only $4.99 at Value Village - needs a good scrubbin', but afterward she'll look good as new!

Pretty in Pink soundtrack on vinyl, $1.99, still in packaging... Value Village.

Lastly, two little owls.

Thrift Share Monday

In the snowiest day of the year so far, we thrift.
Driving through the city at 40 miles an hour, we thrift.
(not pictured - mint #441 Blue Horizon from Value Village)

Vintage 1966 Linus & Lucy figures. Generally not a fan of Charlie Brown, but I couldn't say no. They were in two different bags of random toys, one had 7 iDogs in it, for $2.99 each. These are going on my new toy shelf located in the bedroom.

An amazing orphan shaker - vintage pink deer. My how I want the set now, you can buy them for me on eBay RIGHT HERE for $39.00 even or a starting bid of $10.99 with a BIN for $25.00 RIGHT HERE. A pair recently sold for $3.24 & another for $29.99. I cannot wait to own them! I paid 99cents for this little guy.

Does anybody else go look up the price of things on eBay when they get home after buying them? I'm just always so curious!

Some neat finds this week! A quick run down with some pics...

A set of vintage Niagara Falls salt & pepper shakers brought back from Cambridge by my friend Agnes for me. I've wanted these ones for awhile, have been on my want list & have been tempted by an eBay listing or four. Finally have a set in great condition for only $2.99. Also $2.99 a 401 brown Pyrex bowl - very simple & plain, there is something about the brown that I do enjoy. The owl planter was $1.99 from Talize. Vintage Playboy shot glass was $1.99 from Value Village.. a little expensive for a shot glass, but I definitely wanted this one for my collection & people pay up to $19.95 for this on eBay... Also been finding quite a few lids for Pyrex lately. Hadn't looked for them before, but now that I am they seem to be there.

Here are the pictures!

Thrift Scores!

It's been a major week of thrift stores and neat scores here & there. Countless trips to various Goodwills & countless trips to countless Value Villages & a trip to Talize & a Salvation Army yielded some interesting treasures & one of the grossest items I've seen for sale in a thrift in a while, but this will be saved for WTF? Tuesday - so stay tuned!

Check out this 13" still in the box robot named SATURN by Kamco - only $3.99 at Value Village. I have yet to try him out since the only set of double d's is the one on my bestie, but I'm almost positive he's in working order! He's got all his parts & wa
s stored very nicely in his box.

I found this the other day, a very retro/vintage desk organizer - 60's? $1.99 at a Value Village. Now I just need a desk to put it on! I think it's going to find it's way onto my Lack Ikea shelf for the time being. Still working on that project.

At Talize I found this very awesome #403 yellow bowl in awesome condition. I've got a couple refrigerator dishes in this colour & I totally love it. It's a more mustard yellow that the colour of the usual 400 series or the large bowl from the primary.

New Kids on the Block & Vanilla Ice pins... Value Village.

I bought this Strawberry Shortcake stationery set at Salvation Army & I've listed it for a pretty penny on eBay, getting my price from the recently completed auctions for the Strawberry Shortcake stationery. I had 3 watchers in less than 2 hours. Let's see how this works out. click here if you want to view the auction.

Rainbow Brite pillow case - excellent condition, was on my want list, 99cents at Talize!

Lastly, I had found these cards about mid-November & was supposed to put them to good use this year as my Christmas cards, very retro, but we never got our pic taken for them & I don't really have that many people to send them to anyways. A boy can dream. They are great eh? You still the pic in the front. Classic.

Lighters, Pyrex & Lids - Oh My!

A few more recent finds from the mean streets of Toronto...

Some funky retro '80s lighters from a nice vintage shop, $5 a pop, but I didn't want to leave the cassette one behind & the compact one made a great gift - :p. Don't you just love them?

I found a nice lid at Value Village for a a 470-C for $1.99 - the same Value Village I found a lid for 503 refrigerator dish & an hour later I found an aqua 503 refrigerator dish at Goodwill! Well, this time about an hour after finding the lid I found these two fabulous Town & Country (472, 471) pieces, it isn't the right lid, but I definitely hope this is a new trend. The lid will go greatly on my 470-C Spring Blossom that is in my display case.

My last item that I bring you is something I found many months ago, waaaay back in August on the way home from The Toronto Zoo - a cup stand. Not vintage, still displaying the tag on the bottom from Homesense, it is still stylin' & only displaying the set of Tulip Termocrisa mugs I got for a buck each for the picture. They are usually just sitting in my cupboard.

VintageThrift Scores!

Some more vintage items from the slim pickin's in the area. Value Village is having a 50% off sale tomorrow, November 21st, so I'll probably take much of the week off from thrifting in their stores - much too much of a headache them 50% off days.

A 442 Gooseberry for my collection. Just saw a Gooseberry last night while watching Super 8 - keep your eyes open if you're watching the movie! $3.99 at Talize. Two more & my collection of Gooseberry Cinderella bowls is set.

Two great vintage tea towels. I wish my cat were as hip as the cat who modeled for this tea towel, Value Village & destined for the etsy shop. I love "BOWLER CRYING" towels, this one won't sop up anybody's tears, but was made in Poland if that's any consolation, only 49cents at Talize.

Picked up bymy bestie, Aggie, in Cambridge these beautiful pieces from the Butterprint Serve & Store set - #'s 472 & 473. They need a good scrubbing & I'd put the boyfriend to work if he wasn't so afraid of what I would do if he broke them. $3.99 & $4.99 is my memory serves me correctly & from Value Village. You're the best Aggie!
