What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store

This monstrosity of a craft project:

That's it! I guess I've been more into listening to Azelia Banks than snapping photos on my phone! M

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store!

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store.

I don't see these often, so needed to capture the moment!

I've got some treasures that I've left behind. I haven't been posting as much lately as I have only been able to blog from my phone & I find it quite hard to do. Finally, trouble shooted the one piece of crap laptop we have left & the mouse works & so does the other USB, so we're back in business!

I've started a new blog (but don't want it to go live without a lot of content to continually post... feel free to submit, I'll give credit!). It's called "Gouge-U Village", named after Value Village, of course, as they are the most widely known to gouge their customers (especially since they are for profit). Anyways, I'm also including merchandise from other thrifts.. since so many people defend other thrift stores to be soooo much better!

Really? Spotted at Salvation Army. $2.99 for a FREE SAMPLE! Right now you can get a  Depends sample mailed to your home - FOR FREE. If interested, the link is right here!

Black velvet if you please... really fond of this & it didn't sit too long.

This clock is classic. Loved it, but not for my home.

This one hurt. Second time this has happened in this store with this exact shaker. Last time was about 5 months ago. These bags are death traps!

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store

Nothing from the wall of 1990s tampons for me today, thank you.

Some empty Voss Water bottles priced at & higher than retail.

I actually know a woman who would proudly wear this shirt.
Who knew?
$5? Nahhh.

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store

Hey it's the 1980's, you called?

Pink tease. I've only got 2 501's. Wonder if I can complete my set this October?

As much as I needed this vintage mushroom ironing board, I left it.

Totally cool retro toaster.

& just don't have room for this guy.

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store..

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store

I did the aisle lunge for this one. I imagine any other collectors out there who might have seen it did the same, but sunk when I saw the damage done. Too faded, too scratched to welcome into. Too expensive to buy just for the lid. At least I got a pic of it. I bet it made someone out there happy because I didn't see it on my next visit!

I didn't inquire past the cover.

Cute pic.

When I was young, the Ouija board was taboo. I wasn't allowed to have one (now I have two, probably only because I wasn't allowed to have one) & got yelled at when I asked, grandma shuddered & got angry whenever she saw one in the store, people didn't want anything to do with them, they didn't want them in their house. Now they are done up all cute & pink being marketed by Toys R Us towards little girls? Very strange. Good price, though.

"Ask the Questions Girl's Want to Know"

I only wear ties for interviews & weddings & stuff, but I look at them to look for a certain tie that I have been searching for that I once seen priced at $35. I had a laugh to myself at this one. Condoms!

Also laughed at this... the reclined rocking chair, pile of books & pile of food wrappers. Looks like someone had a nice relaxing day at the thrift!

Until next time...

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store

Is this a thrift store gone to far? or do you think lose bagged tampons are cool?
A lot of people I go with laugh at Depends, butt, I don't think selling them in the thrifts is that bad - those things are expensive (not from experience, lol). If you can get past the reason they are most likely there: an elderly person died & their family thoughtfully donated them. They are still packaged, they are used externally, & unlike tampons & we all know what is going to end up in them.

This person had good taste in what they were making, but just didn't progress as far as I would have liked to have added it to my collection.

I took these especially for Erica over @ Pyrex Thrifter Sisters, just to show some stocked up Pyrex shelves at Value Village. In the second photo, it was a full set of mint Butterfly Gold & a full set of Blue Horizon (I bought 2 & had already taken 'em off the shelf).

These are naked women golf tee's... IDK if you can make 'em out.

Remember my dogs ear? I never posted a picture of how bad it was (before surgery). It's now fully healed, no scaring really. It looks really good. It was hell & I guess at one point my BF (it's his dog) had a discussion about putting him down because it wasn't healing (I found out)... but that's when the ultimate healer stepped in & fed the pup with a syringe, wiped the cone down 6x a day, monitored the pills to a T. HEALED. Anyways, just a picture before. The doc & vet assistant both said they never seen so much come out of one dogs ear. I felt so bad.

Doesn't that look so painful?? It would fill up within hours of getting drained & an you believe the one girl wanted us to wait 2.5 weeks for the surgery!?

Thriftasaurus

Thriftasaurus

A little late this week, but last night I was partying it up at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival! Had a lot of fun...

Everything I bought on my way down to Windsor from Toronto is packed away, ready to be opened when I get home (probably proudly displayed next Thriftasaurus), so I am just going to do a small WHAT I DIDN'T BUY AT THE THRIFT STORE edition, but hopefully am able to see some great finds from everybody else!

I totally would have bought this from the adorable packing if it were cheaper. This particular Value Village prices have skyrocketed on anything "vintage" or collectable. They had a mini (cereal bowl?) that was Fire King, cheaper at an overpriced antique market by more than $1.50.

What most of Pyrex shelves looked like in most of the thrift stores I stopped at..

I am glad to see someone succeeded in their ambitions.

If you remember my eBay post regarding my Strawberry Shortcake stationery (you can read about it on my blog)... can you believe once again I was bid in the last seconds by probably the same ditz with zero feedback? Even the person with 700+ feedback who bid, did not pay. What is the deal with Strawberry Shortcake stationery? I managed to sell one with a second chance offer, but my other second chance offer was ignored. 4 more non-paying bidder alerts filed... It's exhausting.

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store

This was a set of 2 from an antique market. Too expensive too buy, too pretty not to take a photo of.

I've got a collection of bootleg cassettes of bands like Babes in Toyland, Lunachicks, Hole from the early 1990's that would have fit perfectly into this case, but $5.99.. just wasn't feeling that price.

See you Saturday for Thriftasarus.

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store

So weird how you can go into a store with 1,000's, some 10,000's items that have absolutely no sense or reason to each other & you can't even find one thing that interests you. Sometimes you can't even find one notable item. I ventured into 5 thrift stores today leaving with 4 very small purchases (3 from 1 store, 1 from another) & found a few items that caught my interest...

Cute kitty cookie jar, chipped ear. Only premium, non chipped goods are coming home with me. We have run out of room!

You better do what you're told.

Or you're next.

This plastic musical box.. it was broken so I never got the chance to hear what beautiful tune it may have played.

Have fun thrifting this weekend!
I have been up for 20 hours, been preparing for our exterminator... not fun. I really never knew we had so much stuff. Good news, though, about 2 garbage bags off to the dump & 3 to the thrift store - more room opened up! So that means some thrifting in while we're waiting to come back home.

Weak Mid-Week Thrifting & What I Didn't Buy...

WOW. Thrifting in these parts has been WEAK this week. 7 stores, 4 daily trips to my local Goodwill & I only picked up 2 small things!

This Thirst Aid glass for 99cents.

This glass was worth the trip. My fiance & I have only ever had 4 "big fights" (that's about 1 a year..) & 2 of them revolved around Thirst Aid glasses. He accidentally knocked this exact glass out of the cupboard while he was doing dishes (dishes!? I'm just as shocked as you are.) & I flipped out on him. I ended up calling him stupid, he slammed what was left of the glass on the ground & it escalated from there. The second fight about the Thirst Aid glasses was when I bought 2 martini glasses from Goodwill & he cleaned the apartment for once.. why, I don't know, he never cleans, I'm Molly Maid & I'm not very good at it, & it was still wrapped in the the paper in the bag, the other one was on the counter.. he threw garbage in the bag & down the shoot it went. He went as far as to ask the security guard to let him into where the garbage drops so he can search for the glass. It took over 2 years, but I once again have a set of 6! Still looking for a second martini glass though...

And this Easter card for 29cents. "Cards By Kay", made in Canada. I love these retro cards! I don't have many, if any, retro/vintage Easter cards.

INSIDE: "I'll Just Think It!"

And I was digging through some boxes & came across these amazing vintage Jingle Bells from Eaton's (original 25cents). Had to share!

Here is what I didn't buy at the thrift store...

This groovy, retro owl candle for $6.06. I really don't know what I'd do with the hunk of wax. I have another large candle & it discolours everything. Cute, tho

I spy with my little eye 5 too many Glasbake dishes. The exact same dish, exact same condition, priced the exact same day - $2.02 & $3.03.

Hope everyone is having a great week! See you Sunday for Thriftasaurus!

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store

This is probably one of the most ugliest, mind baffling figures I have ever seen... just, why? I can see why it was dumped at the thrifts, but why was it ever made?

PYREX!

This Verde divided dish, that I already have, was in mint condition & priced at $12.99. Passed up another one that same day in mint condition at another VV for $9.99. I already have 3, didn't pay near that price for them! I think the Verde divided dish was one of, if not the, first piece of Pyrex I ever bought!

Photos can be deceiving. These vintage Butterprint bowls may look like they are in good condition, but no... chipped, utensiled & dish washered. The middle one I held in my hand for awhile, it wasn't too faded & was $2.99, but then I noticed the huge chip

I DESPISE these Glasbake dishes. I see them everywhere. Sometimes 5-10 in one store. Were they made with lids? Have probably seen over 150+ in my time, never with a lid. HATE these dishes.  Is anybody with me, or could y'all care less?

THE BEST vintage bowling trophy I've seen yet! I love how the "unidentified creeping object" (as the tag reads) is so much larger than the bowler.

The old me, when I first starting out blogging, probably would have been all over this vintage 1980's plastic Care Bears lunchbox. My tastes have expanded & grown so much since I started this blog. I also found a Wuzzles edible cake topper at the same store for $2.99. Deeply considered it, lol, but it was broken.

What have you left behind lately?
