Thriftasaurus

Thriftasaurus

Did anybody get any great vintage items from their boo for Valentines Day? Not me, but I did get taken on a grand thrifting extravaganza the day after (had to work on VDAY) & found some nice items. Still seems like slim pickings all over (went to about 10 thrift & antique stores).

My favourite Pyrex piece found this week was the 1959 Compass Snack Server Promotional. It was on sale at a new antique mall we discovered in a town so small that it wasn't even found in our GPS. They didn't take cash, so my BF had to take a trip 1KM into the city to an ATM.

Also in the market there was a stash of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pins & some vintage NOS Russ pins as well as some 75% off vintage Valentines. I'm set for next year.

This pattern isn't my favourite pattern, Shenandoah, but I can buy Bake Serve & Store until the cows come home & they were in near mint condition. Also was called to the sporting goods area of the store (which I never venture into) & laying on top of everything was something I've been meaning to cross off my list for $1.99 - this 1990 New Kids on the Block duffel bag.

One more item to check off my list - this snowflake space saver. I need some spare lids.. I've found 2 spare space saver lids in the wild. I've got 3 space savers to lid up

A 1978 Garfield towel for the beach! A Ms. Pac Man game. Should have double checked this.. missing a ghost. Damn. When will I learn?

I was lucky enough to find a scroll in a thrift... it has a few deep scratches on one side & needs a good cleaning. We'll see how it turns out. These Glasbake mugs are my fav ever pieces of Glasbake (maybe the only pieces of Glasbake I would ever buy). Anyways, finally found one - 99cents.

Can't wait to see what you've found..

Thriftasaurus: Happy New Year!

Thriftasaurus!

Probably like lots of you, I didn't do much thrifting this week. I went home for Christmas, worked extra shifts at work & spent lots of time with family. I got my sister to drive me quickly to the Windsor thrifts with my little home girl sidekick (my niece), but they were plenty picked, or just not full because of the holidays. My sister did give me a $10 gift card for Value Village.

In Windsor, I picked up a New Kids on the Block sleeping bag ($4.99) & this vintage Pyrex Shenandoah 404 mixing bowl, not really my style, but the price was right & so was the condition, so maybe a trade or a resale or for the booth.

On Boxing Day, my dad drove me to Knightsbridges Antique Mall in Northville, MI.. place has a gigantic abandoned psychiatric ward next to it, picked up a few nice items, one I had to leave behind in Windsor because I couldn't carry it home. Pyrex 1958 promotional Golden Hearts casserole with lid & cradle & box. My second boxed Pyrex. My first with cradle. I don't have a pic of it, so.. gotta borrow! $15 (is that a good price..?). When I pick it up in May, I may trade it off. My other finds are still packed away, so I`ll post next week!

pic from here.

Happy New Year everybody!

Would love to see what you`ve thrifted or gotten for Christmas, link up below!

Thriftasaurus Thrift Haul Linkup

This week in...
Thriftasaurus

If you're a regular reader you might recognize some of the items I'm posting today, 3 of the items I'm posting today, I've found in the past month.

About a month ago I found a Black Snowflake Pyrex Space Saver at Salvation Army. A Salvation Army that normally has the worst merch ever. Times have changed. When I found the first one, it was tucked in a corner under another dish, it was filthy. I found my new Black Snowflake under the same circumstances in the same store! Also found this 503 Yellow refrigerator dish from the same shop. Have only ever found 1 other 503 at a thrift with a lid. I realize now that I should have cleaned the snowflakes before photographing.

Tupperware lovers, just out of curiosity, what year is this from? I've got a couple other pieces like this, just wondering.

I found a beautiful set of red canisters the other week & a while ago I find quite a similar pair of yellow canisters - except they were 10x the price. I paid $2.99 for these. Not in tip-top shape, but that's fine. My other set has a mismatched lid.

I don't have a data plan // smart phone // whatever, so I still have to send my trusty fiance texts & have him look up some items that I am not sure if they will sell or not. Other times I just go with my gut. I saw this unused towel set & asked him to check online.. nothing, but he told me to get it. Little did I know he was a Mighty Ducks fan growing up. I think he wants to keep them.

I've wanted a good, affordable set of these mugs for awhile. Glad I finally found a pair.

Both shortly for sale on my eBay page - a Strawberry Shortcake stationary (not complete, but will be pairing with some vintage, scented Strawberry Shortcake cards) & some NIP Dick Tracy suspenders.

Thanks for checking out my finds & thanks everybody for linking up last week. Can't wait to see what everybody has thrifted this week!

Thriftosaurus Thrift Haul Linkup & Classic Haul.

Thriftosaurus Thrift Haul Linkup #2 & Classic Sir Thrift-A-Lot haul.

Autumn Harvest Bake Serve & Store set, perfect condition
priced on a sliding scale at an antique mall - $5, $4, $3.
And not taxable! Later saw them in a thrift shop - more expensive & without lids!
I'd like to invite anybody who'd like to co-host Thriftosaurus with me to contact me via email (in my profile) or in the comments below! It'll be a weekly linkup.

This past Thursday I did a little thrifting trip while looking for work pants (still none) & now some work shoes at the West 49 outlet, lucky for me, near 2 thrift stores & not to far from one of my favourite Value Villages in the city. Never leave empty handed... much to my fiances dismay... especially because I came home with 19 packages of unopened Double Dragon & The Hulk napkins from 1993. But really? Who wouldn't want to use these?

Also at the same Value Village, I picked up some owl stuff, which I haven't seen much of lately. These salt & pepper shakers to add to my growing salt & pepper collection & another one of these owl mugs. I've never seen a more perfect picture on a mug - I just love it! I already have 2 of these, just one more & I've got a set!

I can't believe I found this! A sealed WWF 1991 stationery set, wish I was in school! I have honestly been on the lookout for a sealed stationery set (vintage), I don't know why, but whatever, not the point. So CHECK. Off the list.

Last, but not least, these two Fire King mugs - 49¢ each.

This Thursday I'll be taking a mini-vacation to see my sister & visit some family in my hometown. Some thrifting, some fun & we're going to see the Titanic exhibit in Detroit, unless there is some unforeseen circumstance.

Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Flea Market Finds

Sir Thrift-A-Lot
in Flea Market Finds
with Her Library Adventures.

Happy Easter!

Been thrifting heavily this past week, but finds have been minimal, but I still love them all dearly. Doesn't seem like Spring cleaning has begun yet!

Great fabrics from the '90s. The Simpsons fabric is from 1991 & the Batman fabric is from 1992. I got Batman a month ago from Value Village & paid just $2.99 at Talize for The Simpsons fabric. I think I paid around the same for the Batman.

I love the sinister of these owls. They were 99cents for the pair at Goodwill. They were probably like, "don't overprice us, or we'll peck your eyes out."

Other items from Value Village:
Holly Hobbie cards - NIP
vintage, NIP table cover
& Popples towel from 1986!

And is a soap career be in Sir Thrift-A-Lot's future?

Can you believe people are crazy enough to list this book for $900 on Amazon?? The lowest listed paperback, the $900 is a paperback too, is $20.01. I paid $4.99 & this book was exactly what I was looking for. Couldn't be happier with it. If you're a reseller, good item to pick up, I guess.

Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Flea Market Finds

I'll let the pictures do most of the talking, but I was lucky enough to cross FOUR items off of my thrifting want list off this past weekend after a mini thrifting tour of Southern Ontario. I made a partial want list last week, but didn't mention a few items. The items I was lucky enough to cross off were: unopened bottle of Orbitz drink, set of Butterprint Pyrex mixing bowls (missing the #404, but that's cool), the 2 missing bowls for my Friendship Pyrex Cinderella set (funny too, especially since that's all I needed for the set!) & I was able to complete my set of Butterprint refrigerator dish set. It was a pretty good trip! & the trip took part on the most beautiful winter day in Southern Ontario I have ever seen, almost 80 degree weather! - Check out the rest of my haul below...

Here is the Orbitz drink. If you are not a resident of Canada you may not have heard of it, since it was released only in Canada by the Clearly Canada Beverage Corporation & oddly enough, my boyfriends father used to produce this stuff in this factory & said it was "a bitch to make". Introduced in 1997, it was only for sale for a short time before being discontinued due to poor sales. At this time there is no plans to start producing the drink again. You can read more about the drink on Wikipedia.
