Thriftasaurus #110

Thriftasaurus #110

Greetings everyone! I'm back from my trip home to the Windsor-Detroit Area. I thrifted down the 401 & visited an antique market in Michigan. The large Pyrex booth was no longer there, such disappointment, but booths charging $25 for a 502 Primary & a set of Cinderella Butterprint bowls for $135 were. Needless to say, no Pyrex came home with me! There was lots of vintage Christmas, 'tis the season. So that did come home with me!

All that Christmas is still packed away, so enjoy the kneehuggers I bought on eBay! These were BIN for $14.99, free shipping.

These were a promotional item & were once given away if you paid shipping only, at that time I got a set new in the box. I think it was 4 per family. At the time they were selling for $100 NIB on eBay. You can still sell them for like $65 NIB on eBay, so when we saw these at the antique market, we bought them. Don't know if these will sell used, but we'll try! We have a buyer if they don't sell that will buy for just a few dollars over cost that we know, so at least we'll make a couple bucks.

If you are on my instagram, you already know about my find that was I was super psyched about. My Catherineholm pot for $4.99 at Value Village.

I also found another pack of unopened vintage Halloween treat bags at the thrift!

Weird to walk into a thrift store late, late in the evening & find a piece of Pyrex that isn't Old Orchard or Forest Fancies or that hasn't been dishwashered to death, plus, I don't think I have this... but I cannot be sure.

I also rescued this Santa for $4. I need him for my Santa collection. I can't wait to bring out the Christmas, but I am still trying to get stuff organized from when I moved into our place in June or May or whenever, LOL.

Hope you had some fabulous stuff to share! I've got more to share (of course), but it's all waiting to be unpacked...

thrift on!

Thriftasaurus #108

Thriftasaurus #109

I'd like to thank everyone who offered their condolences regarding my beloved dog, Charlie, who passed away at the age of 14 last week. We are absolutely lost without him. During the night, restless. We have been shopping all week to help fill the void. Have no idea what else to do & don't want to be home - the apartment was small, so it seems so empty. We are heartbroken.

Thank you again everyone. I am sorry I missed last week, but I'm here today! I have piles of items on my floor from the past few weeks still in bags, so many that I can't showcase them all here. I'll have to save some for another time. I'm sure there will come a time when I'll go out again & find nothing.

I bought this fan from the thrift store a few weeks ago, fresh from the bin. I'm unsure if the dealers don't deal in these things or they missed the bin since it came out a different door, but when I noticed the bin, it was pretty near empty. I have a solid metal Torcan fan, but I really like the look of this colourful, vintage, turquoise Westinghouse fan with blue plastic blades. Is this a common fan? I'm going to sell my Torcan & keep this one. This one needs a good deep clean.

I have some Pyrex & Hazel Atlas luck! Hazel Atlas is luck indeed because I found it at the Salvation Army, $1.99. Shocking, I know. I can count how many times I've found Pyrex/HA/Fire King at a SA on one hand.

I went to a church sale, I go to this church sale every year. I am not made to get up early, so I can't do church rummage sales often, which is why I don't think estate sales are for me either. Chatter in the line that matched actions from people in line had me believing that even the church sale was corrupt - dealers having first pickings before opening. I was naive even to believe that a church would be on safe haven from second hand sale corruption. Anyways, here are my items from the sale. Under $5 for the lot of it.

75 cent Pyrex bowls.

The only vintage Christmas I found & an apron. I can't really decide if it's vintage (not that it matters, but it's nice to know) - thoughts?

I also bought these egg cups. Lefton Bluebird has definitely seen better days, but for fifty cents, why not? On a high shelf, he'll display nicely still. I think most of my Bluebird collection is chipped & cost a buck, lol.

I need to start cooking if I'm going to start buying cookbooks. It's a good hobby to start especially if I'm trying to keep busy & my mind off things. Got this vintage Betty Crocker cookbook.

That's it for the church sale. I got a couple of other things, but IDk where they are.

I wish, I wish, I wish this fit. Vintage, Pendleton 100% virgin wool jacket/shirt?. Maybe if I loose my belly? It's so nice & looks next to unworn.

Oh yea, this.
(needs repair, don't have glue)

Also to round off the items for the week, some vintage salt & pepper shakers. These drip drop ones are pretty neat. I had never seen them before. I love the black lipstick. The hugging bears were in the bag & I just decided to keep them.

One last thing... I just bought this guy on eBay tonight - $5.99 BIN.

Thriftasaurus #94

HEY THRIFTERS! How's it going? Fellow Canadians - how was your Canada Day? Americans, how was your 4th of July? Everyone else, how was your week? I was exhausted this week. The days I usually do my thrifting & hunting, I hit snooze. I did manage to make it to one of the thrifts as they were ditching their unsold auction goods onto the shelf. Lucky for me, this month I actually found a couple items interesting & even luckier, they never sold, even luckier, I got their before the dealers did, even luckier... they were a good price! Dealers scooted in a few minutes after me. I usually make it a rule not to thrift on that particular day, but was in the area to buy something for my dog, so had to stop in!
There was something about this lamb planter.. kitschy maybe? A little sinister...?

& vintage salt & pepper shakers with rhinestones, LOVE.

I don't know why I bought this really, empty hand syndrome probs? Anyways, made in Germany... Years ago I had purchased a Mimosa Plant (or "Sensitive Plant") that I never planted. My ex-friend had told me I would kill it, great positive, thinker, eh? Anyways, I still have it, so I am going to buy some soil... plant that seed & see what grows!

I bought another item to resell, it recently sold on eBay for $17.99 BIN (only one), I paid $3.99 & will list mine for $29.99 considering mine is in better condition. I'm having a real hard time with eBay lately. I've got the goods, other peoples are selling... I've got it in better condition for a couple dollars more or even the same price, no bites! I hope this item sells. I'll have to wait & see...

Thriftasaurus #85

Hey thrifters! How was your week in thrifting? I'm glad I was able to successfully do both a scheduled post & and scheduled link up! As you may or may not know, last week I went to Ohio! You know, I've always convinced myself that Ohio will have amazing Pyrex & it never really does! Michigan does, but Ohio.. not so much. I was able to hit one vintage shop, so overpriced it made my heart hurt & eyes bleed, 4 antique malls & a handful of thrifts. I went to a flea market, but it was 20 minutes before it was closed, so all the vendors had packed up.

These are my finds. I was going to split them up into posts, but these are going to be immediately packed up. We are moving at the end of may - 2 blocks! So yeah, here's everything!

I found one of these ice buckets not to long ago. Can you believe I found another? Same price at the antique market as it was at the thrift. This is one of my favourite finds this year, so ecstatic to have a backup!

seein' double

Lots of salt & pepper shakers! I have been wanting a set of the winking owls to go with my thrifted winking owl cookie jar, I have seen them priced previously anywhere from $15 to $49. I knew one day I would find them cheaper - $9! Same market had the cookie jar for $95.. jeez. I had never seen anything like the birds before, them! They have 4 real feathers on each shaker!

Vintage RCA Nipper dog statues. $11 for both at a market. The bigger one goes for $50 on eBay. Good buy!

My Pyrex buys. The Bluebelle/Delphite/Whatever bowl was a $3 thrift store find & I bought the fridgie from the market for $5 mainly for the lid.

I was surprised to find out on Pyrex Trading FB group
there was some Delphite hate... weird.

This box is just fabulous! It's a box of Sealtest Ice cream, Gay 90's Toffee Fudge & is from 1956.

A trip to the USA isn't finished unless it includes vintage Christmas...
also includes some duck that was $2, made in Japan. Easter?

Some very small smalls. I've been wanting that Wrigley's gum keychain for my collection for awhile. Love it! Some Valentines picks, love them! Sealed made in Japan reindeer. Love it! & some amazing pins for my collection ("REAL SWINGER" will be for sale... I want ORGY ORGANIZER... not REAL SWINGER!"

Look! It's Lefton!

Hope you found some great goods this week. I've got a huge week a head - fun dentist appointment, haircut.. hah, but most important, I have an interview on Friday, let's see how that goes! I had an interview for the same job maybe 2 years ago? Didn't go as well as I would have like, but 2 years to grow. Need more money for more stuff & a bigger house to fit that stuff in!

PS: I just realized I have more stuff from this trip I forgot to post - oh well, next week!

Link up below with your latest second hand finds. Can't wait to see what you've unearthed.

Thriftasaurus #83

Happy Easter Thrifters! This year, no day of celebrations for me. We usually go to my boyfriends moms & his sister cooks, but she is in the hospital (again), so I will be staying home, cleaning & packing up our apartment while my boyfriend is working. The doctors say she should be out on Monday. We'll all be going down to Ohio & going to his aunts for Easter celebrations next weekend.

I wasn't going to go out this week, but I am pretty damn glad I did. Before anything else, I also want to say, I found a total of $15 this week! Psyyyyyched! I went out because I was stressed & needed time alone. I went out without any expectations aside from having some time alone. Maybe that's the mentality I should always have?

First up, some of my favourite shades of Pyrex! One of my favourite patterns is Butterprint. I love it in all colours & sizes, but my ultimate favourite colour & size is the 471 white on turquoise! I was so excited to find this in the thrift. I only have one & bought it at an antique market in Michigan for $12 without a lid. The thrift store one is near mint. Love it! When I got off the bus, even though I never find Pyrex at this particular thrift anymore & had no expectations, I just had a feeling like I was going to find a pink piece. & look what sat on the shelf?

I saw this at a thrift before & passed because my BF was home & I can only sneak so much inside the house when he's home, so I left it. We later went into an antique market & it was in a booth & he commented on how cool it was. Really boo? It was $3 at the thrift store, now it's like $28 at the antique market.

Yup, rhinestone eyes get me every time. These S&P shakers, made in Japan.

Don't you love this classic set of Jolly Juvenile Notes? The illustrations are a lot of fun. It's missing that beautiful candy cane pen, though. Too bad.

I bought a lamp, too. I know, you're quoting me, "I thought you said you're not a lamp guy!?" I'll save the story & photos for next time because getting pictures of the lamp & to the lamp & stuff is too complicated right now. Hope the bunny was good to you...

BTW, it was my anniversary today - we've been together for 7 years! No celebrations, we never even saw each other. We are working too hard.

Good evening thrifters! How was your week in thrifting? Garage sale season start yet?

I went to my favourite church sale this week - arriving 70 minutes early to be the 40th person in line. According to the guy & his wife in front of me, there were 4 dealers at the front doors. Shit, eh? Next time, it's 2 hours early? Anyways, even with being 40 minutes early, I was first to arrive to the kitchenware table. I picked up the Jadeite shakers & a Verde divided (not pictured), the beautiful made in Japan ice cream scoop & the egg things, which were a nickel each. I think now, are they really me? The Pyrex, I have 4 of these, Verde was once my favourite. I bought this, I believe, only so no dealer would have the satisfaction of getting to buy it for a low, low price. Everything was $3.50. I paid with a $10 & left it at that. Charity. Next stop was the stationery table, nada. Nada anywhere else, too. That's OK - thrifts await! I looked for the old woman who was there a year ago, she had said she would bring some more vintage cards, but I missed the fall sale. She wasn't there. I could have missed her in all the chaos, but my morbidity took over & all I could think of is that she passed away. Also, some bitch yelled at me in the linens section. To exit the linen section it's about a foot wide & 3 feet long.. so only one person at  a time. We both got there at the same time, I let her go first. She stops to look at more linens, so I say very politely, "excuse me, sorry, can I just pass by?" Chick freaks! If I wasn't on a buy high, I could of boxed her. People really need to cool their jets.

What do you think? My third & fourth piece of Jadeite in the wild. My only on the shelf thrift store find - I broke inside the store! Almost died. From the amount of grime caked onto these when I found them (it was nail scraping good), I don't think they are repros, but I don't know anything about Jadeite. The lids are in such great condition!

This cat figurine with the yarn is to. die. for. It was 99cents. I can't believe how cute it is. I don't really find figurines cute enough to bring home anymore, but jeez, I can't get over this one. Also a cute set of salt & pepper shakers. The whiskers are kinda trashed, but they have all their diamonds. Great display pieces either way.

Suitcases aren't me, but I loved this one. I wanted to buy it to resell it. What should I price it? It is in fantastic condition without that vintage smell. When I undid the zipper, the coldest/oldest air came out. So weird!

Pyrex! I don't have this Horizon Blue (at least I don't think) & I really bought this for the lid. Did this casserole come with a clear lid as well as a decorated lid?

I picked up a grab bag with no name crayons & this box of Valentines. I was convinced they were all inside & if they weren't, was going to use the box as a display piece (I like the side of it best). I was disappointed when I sat down at Harvey's & first opened it up - not what I expected! Good, fun stuff (other stuff not pictured that was OK...) & one of my favourite paper/card/ephemera finds ever!

& this. The best find ever! 1956 Selcraft Products, USA.

I had to call it quits again this week. A 7am wake up call isn't me. When I don't sleep I go all Snickers. It was also going to be a 6 day work week. Next week, another 6 day work week! I know, right? Week after - on my way to Ohio! Can't wait to see what you picked up this week.
