Thriftosaurus & Thrift Scores

Thrift Scores

As usual, some great thrifted treasures. I've been eyeing this guy at some of the antique markets, but always been too pricey for my budget, but finally turned up in the thrifts. Priced at Value Village's "collectables" price, but still a decent deal for me, from 1971.

I've got a thing for shamrocks lately. There were initially 6 of these. One cracked in the shop. I got excited & stacked the glasses, 6 high & the pressure got to the bottom one, cracked. Live & learn. If anybody finds another one of these in good condition could they pretty please pick it up for me? I'll pay shipping & cost. I looked on eBay, but couldn't find any. I eventually want to come across the Shamrock Pyrex. There is one listed in Southern Ontario on Kijiji, but alas, too far even this hardcore thrifter (wish I didn't have seizures & could drive).

Retro sheets. Already have them all, but you never know when one might get damaged! The A-Team, Goodwill, same with Strawberry Shortcake pillowcase. Star Wars, 1977, Value Village.

Rare to find Tupperware in great condition, full set in these parts. $5 for these near mint, Tupperware mugs with cover coasters. Set of 4. If you are reading this & you have an antique booth, have you sold Tupperware? How does it sell?

I picked up this Holly Hobbie fabric because I know some of it sells very well on eBay. I am not very knowledgeable in fabricland & infact have a bunch in my linen closet that needs to be listed. This piece measures 72in in height & 44 in in width, is that 2 yards? I'm going to listing this on eBay... eventually.

Piece of Pyrex:

Early American Divided Dish for $3.99 with lid.

Thrift Tip:
If you've got lots of breakables in your buggy & they are banging together, make a quick stop at the linens section & pick up a bath towel to use a cushion and/or separate the items.

  1. Ahhh jealous over that thrifty Pillsbury. He's adorable. Those sheets are a good time, too! I pity the the fool who doesn't have retro sheets.

  3. I love the glasses and will definitely be on the lookout for a replacement for you. I have had some luck selling fabric on eBay. But I don't know a whole heck of a lot about it so I normally just start my listing at twice what I paid for it. At least then I will make something. Thanks for hosting the party this week!

    1. Awwe, thanks so much! I know nothing about fabric either. I have a piece I bought in July waiting to be listed, yards & yards of it. I don't even know what material it is.

  4. Really enjoy this blog; first time I've commented. Regarding your Tupperware finds....it is hard to find clean vintage Tupperware. I buy it whenever I find it in good condition (never the brand new pieces, just the vintage) and I've been very successfully in selling it in my booth in a vintage mall in Memphis, TN. I don't price it very high but always at least 100% of what I pay. There are a lot of people who love and miss vintage Tupperware. Victoria

    1. Thanks Victoria! & yes, it is. This is the cleanest I've ever found, always perform the smell test for Tupperware. Thanks for the feedback on antique mall sales!

  7. you might want to check your pillsbury dough boy. I think it may be a reproduction made in the mid 90's. I have the exact same one I got around 1997. The one I have from 1971 has the full name The Pillsbury co. 1971. The one from around 1997 has TPC 1971 on the bottom of the hat in the back of the doll.

    1. Thank you for that info. You are correct; I have the reproduction from 1997. When I see them at the antique markets, I'm going to check them out. Glad I only paid $4.99 for it. Silly that the TPC would do that.
