Cheap Red Wine

I had spotted the cheap red wine carafe at Goodwill a couple weeks ago passing up on it because of a chip in it & no, it was a Dorito as my friend Agnes suggested.

Yesterday after work I stopped in & was ecstatic to find a set of four cheap red win glasses! Not only was in the market for a set of wine glasses, I had gotten rid of my only remaining wine glass from a set of 4 when we moved, but to find such amazingly cool ones, wasn't expecting it. They were also priced at a reasonable 99
¢ each.

Today I also once again stopped in, had to go to the clinic because I was out of seizure medication. I half expected to find the carafe. I had looked yesterday, but didn't see it. Today I found it! $1.51! So happy! I'll be drinking many, many bottles of Maria Christina out of these.

A couple odds & ends,
Jim Henson's Fraggle Rock vinyl (1984 U.R.T.I Records) - $1.51
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Storybook - (1982 MCA Publishing) -
99¢
Games You Can Play With Your Pussy book (1985 Ivory Tower Publishing)
- 99¢

Now, this Games You... book. I'm having my doubts this is a children's book. It's got such chapters as "How to Feed Your Pussy", "Pussy Hairs", "How to Eat With Your Pussy", "Pussy Hygiene", among others. However, it was with the children's books & is for a friend, Aggie.

Lucky Luke. Have you heard of him? Until today I have never. I thought the sheet would be a nice addition to my vintage & retro character sheet collection. None on eBay or Esty currently. I do like the graphics. C. Dargaud Editeur Paris 1983. Morris.

Who knew Maria Christina wine once advertised? Check out this retro Maria Christina wine commercial from 1986!

Great Thrift Haul!

Thrift Share Monday
GREAT THRIFT HAUL!

I'm loving my finds this week! Loving!

I'll start you off with some Pyrex. My Pyrex has been scare recently, very scare. I was shocked to find what I found today, completely shocked & psyched. My first find of the day today was one of those neon green cake pans, priced at $5.05. I was turning it over contemplating buying it, just because it was Pyrex, you know, I rarely see it.. when I looked up, what do I see. THIS FREAKING 475 2
½ QT BUTTERPRINT CASSEROLE. Butterprint is rare in these parts, almost anything patterned is for that matter, lidded & in fantastic condition in a thrift.. it seems to be quite hard to find. This is my absolute favourite pattern. I'm so excited, even at the price of $8.08.

In the same shop, I found hidden, this great #444 Spring Blossom Green. Had passed this one up in Value Village about a month ago, glad I did - besides being filthy inside, it's almost in pristine condition. $6.06. I think I have to get two more bowls for this set.

The next shop, the one I visit everyday, what do I find carelessly tossed at the end of an aisle? This #525B
2½ QT square lidded casserole. I've seen this once in the wild at Bibles for Missions in Windsor, horrid condition, but I considered buying it because I saw it in Corrina, Corrina, lol. Glad I didn't.. with lid? What's going on here? Am I dreaming again? You can read about my Brad Pitt thrifting dream on the Pyrex Collective, click here! (will post later today on there).

OKAY, onto some other things.

I remember getting this game when I was little - Super Mario Brothers 3. I remember keeping that box in the right side of the entertainment center - lord knows what happens to it. Even though it wasn't the right game inside, for $3.00, I loved to own the box again. I own the game without the box & the game inside - Mario Brothers (Original) with Duck Hunt is warped on the Duck Hunt, so score! & boyfriend approved with the Paperboy - he used to love that game when he was little! Never had been able to pass it though, always died when he hit the tornado..

Salvation Army - original Star Wars curtains 1977 20th Century Fox. $1.99 each. Rarely find anything here.

Some little things..

One of those late '80s early '90s huge buttons. Did anybody actually wear these or did they just prop them up with the back part? Value Village, 99cents. At the same shop, I'm describing these as Americana, this little figurines. They were in a bag of items for $2.99. The girls bow is a little chipped up, but that's OK, I guess. What you gonna do? Also a Madonna cassette single to add to my cassette single collection - Deeper And Deeper.

A little mad about the Salt & Pepper shakers, I squished the plastic, so it`s not as in great condition as when I bought it. Kinda depressing.

Some silly stationary from 1981, Puffin Productions Inc. MOOSE-A-LANEOUS. Get it!É There has to be like 100 pages on this thing.

Mugs!
I bought a set of Termocrisa mugs at Value Village. I'm hoping to resell these. What's a good price? I'm hoping to open a Etsy.com shop at least by the end of the summer... I didn`t say this summer! LOL.

This other mug, a little weird. I haven't had time to look up a meaning & I don't really get it, but the look caught me. It's a Federal mug. Besides the year, 1971 & the Federal marking, the only other marking on the mug is: JRDPub.Co.Ottawa, so assuming it`s a publishing company in Ottawa.

Those '80s Plates!

How absolutely '80s are these?

Picked up these two rockin' "Fireball" plates by "Roy Midwinter" from Goodwill the other day. Even without hearing the year of make, you'll be able to tell that these plates were made right in the middle of the '80s. These were in fact made in 1985, discontinued in 1986 manufactured by Federated Potteries, Staffordshire, England. A Google search provides a few more images of other items in the "Fireball" collection. I only have two plates at this time & unfortunately they have a large amount of crazing, which does give them a lot character, they will make excellent sandwich, cheese or cracker holders if I ever choose to hold a get together.

I paid $2.02 each. I saw them on Monday, decided if they were there on Tuesday that I would buy them.

Delphite Pyrex Fridgies!

Something you literally have to fight for in this city. Got these at auction. Not only is my thrifting down, my Pyrex is down, so I was willing to throw down... quite a lot on these & luckily, it didn't come to that. I paid less than what the last one had just sold for on eBay (approx. $24). Excellent condition. No scratches, no marks, no crazing, no chips, the only something was excitement!

From what I hear, these were made only in Canada.
CORRECTION!
I had misunderstood the information on Pyrex Love & Vonlipi has corrected me, I thought that these were from 1960-1962, but actually, the plant had closed in the '50s.

Auctions get me giddy. I get nervous. My heart goes in my throat. I shake afterward.

What do you think?
BTW, DAY 10 of Goodwill visits with NOTHING! WTF!?
Another, BTW, that's natural light you see in my photo. I love it. You also get to see the view a bit from my kitchen window of my new place.

1980's Owl

OWL.
Plain & Simple.
$2.99, Value Village.

Owl has a sticker on the inside stating with the type printed date "AUG 1 '80". From the other stickers on the owl - this owl is some kind of attachment to a portable light (wish I had the rest!) & was made in Japan by I.W. Rice & Co. Inc.

Merry Mushroom!

I have to say, I really love the one Merry Mushroom item. Not as tacky as most of the Merry Mushroom items, very simplistic, with beautiful colours representing the great era of the '70s with a mushroom plopped on top. Not large enough for a cake or a pie, just the right size for a dip. What is this? A dip holder? LOL, I don't know! Makes me feel a bit uneducated.

Everyone's favourite 1970's mushroom kitchen accessories from Sears - Merry Mushroom! I came across a bunch of the stuff, reasonably priced, tea kettle (missing the top) & quite a few of the jars. I'm not a fan of the jars, I love them for their ugliness kitsch factor, but don't think I can display the set along with the other items in my house. At least not at this time. I did pick up the smallest jar for $1.99 to keep some random things in just inside the cupboard. What's the other thing? A butter dish? They weren't going to sell it to me. The cashier told me the bottom doesn't go with the top. I kept telling her that it's part of the Merry Mushroom set from Sears from the '70s. It's also got the same markings (carved CANADA) in the bottom as the jars & other Merry Mushroom items & plop, right on the top, you can't miss the mushroom. She just wanted me to shut up, so she gave it to me. I was getting concerned that they weren't going to sell it to me. I hate their new policy. No tag, no sale. Anyways, haven't seen this one Merry Mushroom item around. Besides a butter dish, I dunno what it could be for. Dip?

Goodwill has not been Good to me.

I did it, I finally moved. Celebrated Pride weekend here in Toronto, quite some sites to be seen from my balcony. I`ve also been commuting to work, which means a stop at Goodwill everyday on the way home. I`m on day 5. Day 5 with buying absolutely nothing. I`m shocked! I also haven`t done a city wide thrift in about 2 weeks, so my day of relaxation tomorrow will consist of some thrifting around the city. I`m hoping for some exciting finds.

I did find this today. I once passed up on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle towel about a year ago & have regretted it ever since & found this one today at Value Village. Priced at a $1.99, it does need some Oxy Clean, or at least a wash, but luckily it hasn`t had too much loving & drastically faded the graphic.
