A few more things..

Hopefully the pictures say it all.. all cups from Value Village, 49cents each, Made In Japan furry knick knack $2.99. The two mugs with orange on them are both Termocrisa & the other Anchor. I'm really fond of these stackable mugs.

Below is a Federal Bowl. It sits along with another red polka dot Federal bowl I had gotten in Niagara Falls awhile ago. This was priced 69cents & I got it at Value Village in Windsor. Speaking of Windsor.. I also got a David Allen Coe cassette (not pictured).. 99cents (pricey!).

Everything here: $6.64.

The Circus Is Back In Town!

Not to long ago sometime in early December I had a run in with a beautiful set of Federal bowls that ended in disaster. The photos below show it all.

Well earlier this week while checking out a thrift store that someone else mentioned on their blog that I ended up already being to multiple times & hated we stopped at Value Village & low & behold, they have the broken bowl. It has a small chip in it, but it will do. I am happy I found the bowl, but still a bit bummed it's not from the same set, ya know? The price tag was almost ripped off, so I inquired about the price & it was only $1.99! Yay!

Thought I smelled a skunk!

Here is my Made In Japan skunk! Love it! $3 marked down from $5 at that consignment shop in Windsor from when I went there awhile ago... $3.39 with it all.

Some more finds.

Have picked up some stuff over the past few weeks that I have yet to post about.. some found photo albums, full of photos (each $1.99), a pair of pants (not pictured.. forced to get them for work :p), 3 records at 99cents each, A Serial Mom laser disc & a magazine I have been looking for (but wouldn't buy off eBay) for 15 years! The December 1992 issue of Spin Magazine with my favorite singer, Courtney Love, along with Kurt Cobain & Frances Bean. Pants & albums at Value Village, the rest at Goodwill. With the pants it's $33.99!

Shirt Tuesday!

I picked up this cute little number yesterday at the most definitely ghetto Value Village I have ever been to. It's 100% polyester & was made in Poland. The tag was $5.99, cashier made a mistake & couldn't correct it, so it was $5.89, no tax. Not bad. I bought it with Aggie, who just happens to be Polish!

BTW, this is the first picture of me on my blog.. just had to be a breast shot!

Pyrex On South Park

Ya think? BTW, for you Pyrex Lovers here in Toronto. I was in Vesta Lunch this weekend & guess what was laying out by the coffee machine on the counter.. that's right, PYREX! Not the best food, but truly a 1950's dining experience. This screen shot was from season 14, episode 9 of South Park titled "It's A Jersey Thing."

I'm going to post a skunk in a couple of minutes.

Lingerie Salt & Pepper Shakers

This is one of my favourite recent finds. This was in Windsor at a Curiosity & Antiques shop. It's kind of a hidden gem, in a basement & it's a consignment shop. I can't believe that these were only $3.00 & they have their original corks! Made in Japan, a souvenir of Niagara Falls, NY. I love Japan knick-knacks & stuff. These beauties were $3.39 with taxes. I bought one more thing at the shop with these, but I'll post him later. I believe he was made in Japan as well.

I've been ill lately, off & on, so thrifting has been in a decline. Yesterday I visited a shop (where I got that book in my last post), but I couldn't concentrate much & vomited a bit when we left the store. It didn't beat puking up Pho at the side of the street in China town moments after leaving & having a noodle get caught half way in my throat. The Pho looked exactly as it did when it went in. Anybody call for seconds?? Today was the first day I actually called in sick for work since i started my job - which was a year & a half. I walked in one day after having a grand mal seizure & said I couldn't come in.. but I don't count that as calling in sick. A day in bed, vomiting up orange juice with a massive headache wasn't the best day off.

PS: A new blog tag I added is MADE IN JAPAN, since I just love the knick knacks..

Breakfast At Tiffany's

A book that caused quite a few laughs & some tears. You can make great comments about you daily positions! $3.14. A gift.

Some recent goodies..

Alright, before I got sick & was working insanely, I was thrifting up a storm.. a huge storm. I accumulated some goodies over that time, many I haven't posted (still have to post my Windsor finds!). I bought the below things about two weeks ago from Value Village...

Pretty Woman laserdisc ($1.99)
Puzzle Photoframe ($3.99)
Vintage stickers (99cents)

I don't have a laserdisc player, but, I couldn't pass up owning Pretty Woman up on laserdisc since it's something that isn't seen very often by myself in thrifts. I think the Puzzle Photoframe is really neat. I fought myself over wanting to pay $3.99 for it & finally caved.. I mean, it was more expensive before & now that I had seen it, I wanted it. It's not very expensive new, either. The vintage stickers were a great find. One of my favorite collections is my collection of vintage stickers. 99cents bought me an amazing hair clip, still in packaging, which Aggie promptly clipped into her hair, a NIP Jim Henson's Muppet Babies stickers (2 sheets), some generic puffy stickers made by Canasia Toys & Gifts Inc. with an original price tag of 69cents from Party Packagers & last but not least in the same bag were a NIP of Selectrum memo holders (aka push pins) shaped like cameras & rolls of film. I have some vintage stickers with similar packing which were bought a couple years ago.

Total trip: $7.69.

Last night was a trip to Goodwill. The wife bought this snowboard thing, I don't even know what it is, but it was NIP with the original price tag of $7.99 - paid 99cents. Aggie bought a couple CD's & I got a NES game Tetris, with original 1989 Nintendo case. I also got the dust jacket (not pictured). Nintendo game & all were $2.99. I saw the same game, without case & without dust jacket at Value Village for $7.99 (no joke!).

Total trip: $2.99.

A Place With A View.

I have yet to post pictures here of the view from my place. It's a place with a view. It's right next to the CN Tower & on sunny days, when there is a game at the Rogers Centre & the dome is open, we can see some of the crowd. & what better time to take the photos! A nice, raining, gloomy day! There's also a new pic of my dog below. I love him!

Oh ya, we live on the 49th floor.

Ever growning collections..

Greetings, well, here I am with some more items to ad to my collections. I picked up a copy of the made for TV movie 'Death Of A Cheerleader' (1994), which stars the ever-so beautiful Tori Spelling, on DVD for $2. I am watching it as I type this, it's almost over. I also picked up another hand vase, similar to the one I picked up from Value Village in early September. I felt this was a bargain, since it was only 99cents, although I would have bought it either way. I also picked up quite a nifty, retro Federal bowl from Goodwill too. It's quite stained, as you can see in the pictures, but some magic eraser, soap & water will be doing the trick to bring it back to perfection. The bowl was $3.99. In the first picture you'll get to see a picture of the owl, which I posted about below as well. He was bought today, along with everything else.

Yet another item to add to my ever growing collections - a found photo of a little boy in a room full of funky furniture. You probably can't make it out on the photo I have taken, but the couch is covered in plastic. Found October 4th, 2010 at Value Village.

Total trip: $8.10.

The Weather Owl.

Why do so many thrifters have a thing for owls? It seems everyone has picked up some kind of owl object recently. A lot of us share the same like for deer, too. I've never been too fond of owl objects, but after I saw this guy - 'Weather Owl' - I had to have him. A glance at the price tag & yes, I was going to have them. 99cents! ($1.12 with tax). I'm not sure if this item is vintage or not, but the lettering style & colour mimic other vintage objects I have. Anyways, this little guy wanted a myspace shot as well..

Eraser Collection.

Not my eraser collection, but I thought it was cool & that I would share. You can buy them as a lot or $1 each! You can buy them right here! I think it's a cute collection. My favourite are the little record players & the ones that look like little packets of gum!

The Dreadful Thrift of October!

It's the beginning of the dreadful thrift of October. It begins. Value Village set up earlier in September after their 50% off sale to clear out room for their cheap, crap plastic costumes. I don't know about you guys, but I can deal with the weirdos (we all get along just fine), I can deal with the hipsters (as long as looking at them doesn't make me vomit), but it's extremely hard to deal with the Halloweeners (haha). Groups of people going to the thrift for a laugh to find ugly, hideous, trashy items to use for their Halloween costumes. They come in droves. They are obnoxious, they are loud, maneuvering around them as they all stand and laugh at the objects you're trying to get to.. like that New Kids On The Block phone. Anyways. I will still thrift, I just find this time of year vile.

I made a few stops in a couple thrifts today as I was around the city. At one point the street car had to make a detour due to a "suspicious package" somewhere (that's what the driver told us all..). Anyways, I am happy with my purchases. I actually left a few items behind today, GOOD FOR ME. It's a hard thing to do, as many of you know.

I bought a NIP 6 pack of The Simpsons 'button collection' made by "Button-Up" (cute name) in 1990. These were 99cents at Value Village. I had a huge sticker of the "Underachiever: And Proud Of It, Man!" on the front of my binder in like grade 2. I remember it got a bunch of carpet fibers stuck in it & I threw it away. Also at VV, I got a Federal Bowl, which was $3.99. I quite enjoy Federal bowls. I'm surprised they had anything left at Goodwill after their weekly 50% off sale, which was yesterday, but the shelves were all quite full. Even so, I only bought a beautiful little mug that you see below, 99cents, Anchor & the two CD's each for a buck.

Total trip: $8.67.
