Thriftasaurus

Thriftasaurus

Wasn't able to get in much thrifting this week, but was still out & about a little bit.

Something about Blue Horizon.. mint condition pieces won't stop coming home with me.

Surprised to find this Rainbow Brite cake pan, along with the original instructions. I had yet to add this to my cake pan collection & according to the tag, it had been there for 3 days.

I've wanted some risque/nude woman swizzle sticks to add to my collection & finally came across some yesterday - $1.99. I'm assuming these are old & not reproductions based on similar ones on eBay.

1977 DC Comics flat sheet. I found the set of pillow cases a while back. I don't collect fitted sheets.

Some 1970's Halloween hangings. I got 3 33" Beistle Nite-Glo Skeletons from 1970 & a 1979 Beistle Flameproof banner that says Halloween - all sealed. I also got 5 of these textbooks on interior design from International Correspondence School, Scranton, PA from 1961. Most of the pictures are black & white, but interesting to flip through & read about interior design of that time period. & some stickers (70's, I am guessing).

I've never seen anything Pee Wee Herman in a thrift before, even though this is a repro, I had to pick it up. Glad to have it.

I can't wait for next week - nice shopping trip planned. Hope you all have a wonderful week, I'm going to try to scan a few images from those textbooks this week.

Can't wait to see what stuff you found this week. Have a good long weekend if you get Monday off!

  1. I'm so glad I found you! Nice to see an Aussie blog on op shops and thrifting and yes, postage is a bitch from the Northern Hemisphere! Hope to visit on a regular basis and hopefully I've linked up correctly. Cheers!

    1. Silly me! You're not from Australia but Canada. I knew that but still babbled on about you being an Aussie. Ignore me...it's the Sunday evening wine talking ; )

  4. OMG....Pee Wee's Playhouse?! I used to watch that show every Saturday morning. It was so weird but in a good way. Glad you found a cake pan that you didn't have. It's been a while since you've found one, hasn't it?

The Blue Horizon is one of the few patterns other than Friendship, pink, and turquoise that I will let myself collect. I don't know what it is about it.

    Have a great week!

    1. Yes it has!

I`m not super fond of BH, but I was sitting eating & just realized something about it I never seen before. Yeah.

& I remember PWP, too. Bizarre that we all loved the show.

    1. Thanks! & I got lucky - someone had tossed this sheet back. They had some other 70`s fitteds, I can`t help but wonder what else was there.

  7. You did get some good as well as quirky finds this week. Thanks for hosting. My thrifted bits became part of a summer vignette, haven't made one for quite awhile.

  9. OMG I'm super jealous of your Rainbow Brite cake pan. Rainbow Brite was my childhood hero. Ah, who am I kidding? She still is!

    1. My mom never made any cool cakes that I can remember, but maybe I don`t give her enough credit. Who knows.

      Thanks Melissa!!!

  15. LOL, took a domestic AirNz flight last week and they had coffee stirrers about that shade of blue. Kept the toddler entertained for the entire flight, stirring and mixing her "kids coffee". Would be pretty funny to see the reaction if someone swapped the boring blue ones for your swizzle sticks. :)
