Vintage Greeting Cards

Vintage Greeting Cards

Here is a small selection of vintage greeting cards from 1948 by Novo Laugh. Pretty risque... Vintage greeting cards are my OBSESSION right now. It's my stop in the thrift after Pyrex! These ones I bought off eBay for a really, really good price.

Do you buy vintage greeting cards from the thrifts? Do you actually use them for their intended purpose? If not, what do you do with them?

The Hangover Poem (from the above card)

There you lie upon your bed,
Throat so dry and throbbing head.
Bloodshot eyes & body sore,
The morning after the night before.

Can't eat nothin' got no pep,
Lost your money, lost your rep.
Can't git up, you feel so bad,
Boy: What A Wonderful Time You Had.

Never felt so bad before,
Even your darn old tongue is sore.
When you sneeze you still taste gin,
Gosh: What A Party It Must'uv Been.

Can't Remember where you went,
Don't know where you time was spent.
A WOW of a party it must'uv been,
For look at the Helluva Shape You're In.

I still have more vintage greeting card scans to come (slowly), but you can always visit my Vintage Greeting Card Set on Flickr.

  2. You know I collect vintage cards! The smaller size ones I use to decorate during the holidays. I have a project in mind that I will be doing at some point that involves vintage valentines, an old ornate picture frame, and old wrapping paper. The bigger ones I just hoard. Not sure what to do with them. I was actually going through them the other day and I noticed I have a lot of Get Well Soon ones. Evidently, when you got sick back then, someone sent you a card. How nice.

  3. I love vintage greeting cards! I have boxes and boxes of them and loads of them in my Etsy shop. They are fun to find! They definitely speak of a different time, friendlier in some cases.

Love your blog by the way! :) I don't remember if I have ever commented, but I have been a lurker for a long time.

    1. Awwe, thanks!

You're got some fantastic, fun cards in your shop. Out of my price range, but still fun to browse.

  4. I've only seen vintage cards in the thrifts a couple of times, wish I could find more. My parents saved all the cards, right back to the 70's, I had them sent to me, that's a lot of cards!
