Thriftasaurus

Thriftasaurus

I went shopping with my boyfriend on Friday, my only day off work in weeks that wasn't a holiday.. the out of town thrifts & all the one antique market we ventured in were all quite busy! There were 2 that I could barely move in. I know that just after Christmas isn't the best time for thrifting, but the BF told me he'd take me out before our friends go to town - what a fun weekend!

Just a couple purcashes from the one antique market we ventured into, I went in determined to find a unique, rarer piece of Pyrex & left with this 1961 Holiday Promotional Casserole, with the lid. Probably my least favourite piece of holiday Pyrex, but I am picturing the jealousy on my future mother in laws face when I bring this over next Christmas with homemade stuffing. I also picked up this 1972 Pillsbury Dough Girl doll, she was in a bag with a 1971 Pillsbury Dough Boy, but he's suffered some major damaged overtime & his plastic has changed color to black in the weaker areas of his body. One more purchase, but saving it so I can take part in Rednesday!

Two items I had picked up at Knightsbridges Antique Mall in Michigan on Boxing Day. 470 Butterprint Bake Serve Store which has been surprisingly hard to find for me. It has been on my want list & I paid $8, no lid, but had one at home. I also picked up this set of S&P shakers. Reminds me a bit of Clockwork Orange, IDK.

I found 2 gigantic bags of pins on the showcase at one Value Village we went into. Each bag was $3.99, these are the only ones I'm adding to my personal collection. There is a bagful that went back to the thrifts (boring, advertising, homemade) & a couple that will be going for sale - one 1980's Joan Jett button will pay for both bags altogether!

  ...even some more vintage cards..
including 1980's Care Bears cards.

Another vintage Nintendo find this week - a whiteboard for 99cents, still sealed.

Can't wait to see how you have started off the new year - link up below with your thrift finds!

(& yea, I'll have the image one up & running again shortly)

    1. Thanks! I almost left them on the desk, was on the fence at the market, but when I got home, I was happy I didn't. I'm proud to add them to my collection.

    1. I know! I love that one. The cashier commented about it, too, since it was on the outside of the bag. I have a vintage plate with a saying & graphic on it, too.

  3. The salt and pepper shakers are pretty unique. You always find the best stuff. Our thrift stores have been pretty bare since Christmas, but I'm going out later this morning to see if people brought in a bunch of stuff this weekend. I can only hope!

  7. I have the same Pillsbury Dough Girl doll. Found her several years ago on e-bay to replace the one I lost(paid more for shipping than the doll). Did you keep the Pillsbury Dough boy?

    1. I hate shipping.

      I truly do.

I'm not sure what to do with the doll. The newer version might do the job on the shelf until I run into a cheaper version of the vintage one.

I uploaded a photo if you wanted to check it out:
