What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store!

What I Didn't Buy At The Thrift Store.

I don't see these often, so needed to capture the moment!

I've got some treasures that I've left behind. I haven't been posting as much lately as I have only been able to blog from my phone & I find it quite hard to do. Finally, trouble shooted the one piece of crap laptop we have left & the mouse works & so does the other USB, so we're back in business!

I've started a new blog (but don't want it to go live without a lot of content to continually post... feel free to submit, I'll give credit!). It's called "Gouge-U Village", named after Value Village, of course, as they are the most widely known to gouge their customers (especially since they are for profit). Anyways, I'm also including merchandise from other thrifts.. since so many people defend other thrift stores to be soooo much better!

Really? Spotted at Salvation Army. $2.99 for a FREE SAMPLE! Right now you can get a  Depends sample mailed to your home - FOR FREE. If interested, the link is right here!

Black velvet if you please... really fond of this & it didn't sit too long.

This clock is classic. Loved it, but not for my home.

This one hurt. Second time this has happened in this store with this exact shaker. Last time was about 5 months ago. These bags are death traps!

Thriftasaurus #97!

Thriftasaurus #97!

Greetings second hand treasure seekers, how was your weekend? Full of thrift & finds, I hope.

I attended a wedding Saturday night. If you read my blog regularly, you will know that I collect vintage greeting cards & I have thousands of them. I had not one wedding card that doesn't portray a bride & groom, since it was a gay wedding, that wouldn't be fitting. I had some amazingly adorable ones (even doubles, so it wouldn't be that hard using them), but alas, Hallmark store it was. It was difficult there, too. My next wedding is in September. She is a friend of mine & I'll be scouring eBay for some NIB mixing bowls for her! I've already got her a nice, vintage card. Well.. onto my finds!

I had an AMAZING week in thrift store shopping. I can't remember the last time I got a haul that was this fruitful & the last time I brought home a piece of Pyrex that I didn't have (I didn't even know what set the bowl I got to went). It's possibly the thought of opening an Instagram shop has opened my eyes, who knows, but I love it all & I want to keep it all! I have some linens in the main photo, but I couldn't photograph them - I will do it for next week though.
On top of that - I had my most amazing eBay sale ever, bought it for $8, sold it for $670. Surpasses my previous of $7 & selling for $232.50.

Onto my finds..

This stationery set is by Holiday Fair Inc, Japan from 1969. I believe this is a briefcase, a Delicato by Markay. It has some condition issues, but I am pretty sure they can be fixed up. They used some nasty glue! Just couldn't pass it up. Even if the condition sucks, this would look so great on display.

Here's my bowl! A 401 from the reverse primary (thanks Erica!). I left 2 Butterprint behind & they were gone within minutes, a 403 & 402 - some small chips on the rim & some pattern wear when you looked close. I've got so much Butterprint.. wished a dealer hadn't picked it up though.

Bought this cute fabric...

Some cards...

Some vintage unused Halloween cards & a wooden witch(?) or viking? These are usually vikings, aren't they? But this looks like a witch. This is just marked FOREIGN on the bottom. Any info you can tell me on where these are from?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this. Thanks everybody & dealers for leaving it behind for days. I don't know if it's a candy dish or a planter, but whatever it can be either.

& I bought this elf. I have no idea if it's vintage or not, the tag has been ripped off, but the remnants make it look a little dated. Whether or not it's old, I like it, but I love to know the history of the things that I welcome into my home. You know what I mean?

I made my first Instagram purchase. If I remember correctly, shipping was more than the item itself. Don't you hate it when that happens?

Thanks for stopping by this week!

Thriftasaurus #96

Thriftasaurus #96!

Hiiiiiiiii thrifters & second hand treasure seekers! How was your week? Hope you have lots of great finds this week to share with us for Thriftasaurus.

I've decided to open an Instagram shop... haven't made on yet, but I will. Everything I picked up this week, aside from Superman will be inside among other sought out & long forgotten treasures.

I was complaining in my head that I haven't seen any vintage character sheets in forever & this week, I was overwhelmed.. not any I would buy, aside from this 1977 Superman pillowcase & 2 flat sheets (not pictured) & a stained Nintendo one from the 1980s.

These cards & this sealed pack of strawberry stationary will be for sale in the shop.

Also this adorable anthropomorphic tea towel! I love their faces...

That's all for me this week. I have a regret this week... something I left behind. We have a weekly antique market on Sundays here in Toronto, so I will have to wait & see until next week if it's there. So stressful,  lol!

Linking up with Melissa's Antiques for Thrifty Things Friday .
Hope you have some finds to join in, thanks for linking up last week.

I am *thinking* on having a giveaway to celebrate the 100th Thriftasaurus. Of course, I won't include anything I already own (love it all), will have to pick some things up... if I do, what would you like to see?

Thriftasaurus #95!

Thriftasaurus

Hi thrifters! I've been working up a sweat this week - literally. I believe I even suffered heat stroke & was ready to pass out in the thrift store. I dragged myself into one more (glad I did) & then had to hop on the bus & take my ass home. I was ready to vomit, then collapse. I have a haul I am proud of this week - all thrifted.

All bought all these glasses to resell. I just might open an insta-shop. They seem like fun. My sales would only take place every quarter, whenever I go to the states as I probably wouldn't sell a lot since shipping for larger items is OUTRAGE to the USA from Canada.

These are vintage, made by Federal. Don't really photograph well, but I learned when offering them for sale you can put food coloured water inside!

I cannot believe this was at the thrift store according to the tag for about 72 hours. This store is stalked by the dirtiest, sleaziest dealers I have ever seen, too. I won't go into detail, just trust. They are sleazy. Good Pyrex moves through this place, I can tell by all the dishwashered stuff. I found a few nice things, too. Nothing extremely rare, but nice enough. Anyways, it was grimy, maybe that's why? They afraid of the tiniest bit of work & will only buy shelf ready items? $3.

April angel. I never go to this store, so surprised I found something! It's always picked over to crap & you're usually picked through literal garbage. Love her basket of Easter eggs. I've got the February angel.

OKAY. This t-shirt was too hilarious not to buy. I don't know if I am going to keep it, I might sell it. There was one on eBay at one point like it for $148, don't know if it ever sold. This one was never worn (at least never washed - so it looks).

Cuuuuttteeee... & close up on the cat is a must!

I bought these napkins. I would love to know more about them. Does anybody know anything about them? German, I know! But.. what else

"For the most important thing in life."

Now's the time. If you thrifted & you blogged about it, link up below & let us know what fabulous things you picked up!

Thriftasaurus #94

Thriftasaurus #94

HEY THRIFTERS! How's it going? Fellow Canadians - how was your Canada Day? Americans, how was your 4th of July? Everyone else, how was your week? I was exhausted this week. The days I usually do my thrifting & hunting, I hit snooze. I did manage to make it to one of the thrifts as they were ditching their unsold auction goods onto the shelf. Lucky for me, this month I actually found a couple items interesting & even luckier, they never sold, even luckier, I got their before the dealers did, even luckier... they were a good price! Dealers scooted in a few minutes after me. I usually make it a rule not to thrift on that particular day, but was in the area to buy something for my dog, so had to stop in!
There was something about this lamb planter.. kitschy maybe? A little sinister...?

& vintage salt & pepper shakers with rhinestones, LOVE.

I don't know why I bought this really, empty hand syndrome probs? Anyways, made in Germany... Years ago I had purchased a Mimosa Plant (or "Sensitive Plant") that I never planted. My ex-friend had told me I would kill it, great positive, thinker, eh? Anyways, I still have it, so I am going to buy some soil... plant that seed & see what grows!

I bought another item to resell, it recently sold on eBay for $17.99 BIN (only one), I paid $3.99 & will list mine for $29.99 considering mine is in better condition. I'm having a real hard time with eBay lately. I've got the goods, other peoples are selling... I've got it in better condition for a couple dollars more or even the same price, no bites! I hope this item sells. I'll have to wait & see...

Throwback Thursday

Throwback Thursday

Hello! It's a little boring over here, so while I wait for my episodes of Orange Is The New Black, I was going through some of my old posts... from 2010! I've been around for awhile, eh?

Can you believe half of everything on this page has now found it's way out of my house? The Dukes of Hazzard comforter, the Strawberry Shortcake sheet, Care Bears stickers have stayed. Care Bears mug made it's way to my BF's niece, Cabbage Patch kids set (what was I thinking?)

Outta these, the Santa troll has stayed, I mean, I think I have like 8 of these snack sets somewhere. Who needs some crusty, incomplete one? I mean, I have a turquoise, orange & yellow one that says, "potluck"! The other troll, outta here!

I got rid of this Fred stuff. I used to buy it at the thrifts because IT'S SO COOL & SO EXPENSIVE, but like the original owner, I did nothing with it... I wonder if the third owner is going to use it? Anyone else see a lot of it?

I'll never get rid of this. Unless it breaks. Knock on vintage wood.

All of this stuff is stuff that made it out of my house when I moved in MAY. It basically sat around in boxes for 3ish years. NUTS.

Hellllloooo... anyone else out there like me?
I'm sure of it.

Isn't this fabric fabulous?

These ladies are glamorous, way too glamorous for me, so I'm going to list them on eBay. I couldn't help myself from buying this... even if it doesn't sell, I'll be happy keeping it. I can find some use for it. Just had to share this vintage fabric find, I think it's amazing!
