Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Flea Market Finds

Some vintage finds this week, all below. The highlight being the set of vintage Spanish shot glasses - which I believe are similar to the English set & say 'NAME YOUR POISON' with the prescription symbol including Arsenico, Cianuro & Estricnina. You're welcome to a drink. I'm not sure if this is the full set of these or not, but I have two of each. They were 4 for $1.49 & 49cents for each thereafter. $4.99 for the Pyrex divided dish. $3.99 for the vintage yellow 503 Pyrex refrigerator dish, sans lid & a nice pack of NOS elephant cocktail invitations - which are available for sale in my ETSY SHOP.

It's Sunday, so I am once again joining in for FLEA MARKET FINDS over at Her Library Adventures.

Items available in my ETSY Shop,

1980's Invasion!

Today I left early from work to go to the hospital - a mild case of appendicitis. A few hours later, 8 vials of blood taken & two prescriptions, I was on my way!
Like the true thriftaholic that I am, I didn't go straight home. I went thrifting with appendicitis. Turned up some great 1980's finds!
(Thrift Share with APRON THRIFT GIRL)

Value Village had a vintage haul in board games, got Pac-Man, Strawberry Shortcake & ET. They had many others, a great vintage Casper board game, but the box was so destroyed it wasn't worth it. I'm glad to have these fun games in my collection! Another stop at Goodwill turned up this vintage The Smurf Game! Priced at a steal - $2.02!!

Value Village also had some great vintage sheets! Holly Hobbie & a new, crisp Popples flat sheet have been added to my collection. Was lucky enough to pick up the Popples pillow case as well.

A find from awhile ago, Strawberry Shortcake memo pad, 1981. Love it. Another love it is this Pac-Man vinyl - have yet to listen to it, but I'm sure it's going to be great!

Happy Thrifting!

Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Sunday Goal Link Up

Joining is with Van

For Sunday Goal Link Up

(Value Village - owl salt & pepper shakes, Friendship Pyrex bowl, lamp, vintage radio Urban Outfitters - lampshade eBay - lightbulb salt & pepper shakers)

Last Sundays goals didn't go as planned. I have no one to blame but myself. A little more self control, a need to push myself & I'll make it. A little progress made in sweeping on a quiet Sunday night at home, cleaned up most of the hoard on my shelf (see pics!) & I had been feeling good about my saving money - bringing pop to work, had thought twice at the thrift store... just need to eat at home more! Get over that hurdle, a few other things will fall into place.

This week, bringing some goals from last week over:
[1] Eat smart. Eat right. 1,843 calories a day. 1,500mg of sodium MAX a day.
[2] Gym! Gym! Gym! I'm staying Fat! Fat! Fat! 3x this week.
[3] Scan vintage photos for sale on eBay. Cross my fingers, toes. Hope at least some sell.
[4] Find a family doctor. At least make progress. This can be hard in Toronto.
[5] Save money. Eat out less, think twice at the thrift store (like that'll happen :p) bring pops to work, no impulse shopping. $100 into savings.

have a good week.

♥ Valentines Day Finds ♥

♥ Valentines Day Finds

This year I got a Valentines Day surprise - picked up in work in a rented car for an evening of thrifting! Could you ask for a better Valentines Day gift? The trip yielded a few finds, but not as much as I had anticipated once I sat my ass down in that car. I'm still digging them though. I think my favourite has got to be the DOWN WITH NOSTALGIA tea towel. Brand new. The lady at the counter told me it was my lucky day. I told her it was true. A couple more fun tea towels, a couple pieces of Pyrex & a set of cute made in Japan owl salt & pepper shakers later we were back in Toronto & having dinner at Jack Astor's. The dinner started off on the right foot - found a blonde hair, 10cm in length in my cup of Pepsi... that I had already drank 3/4 of. Returned it, obv. But yeah, nothing special about the Yonge & Bloor Jack Astor's, I'm sticking to the Dundas Square or Front Street locations.

If you are interested in the Ulster Ladybirds (or the lady bug) tea towel, I have it for sale on eBay. You can view it RIGHT HERE!

Thrift on...
Hope you had a good Valentines Day too!

Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Sunday Goal Link Up

Sir Thrift-A-Lot
in Sunday Goal Link Up
with Van over at Thrift Core

It has been 2 weeks since I have taken part in Vans Sunday Goal Linkup, I have been lazy, unambitious & generally in the dumps. Things haven't changed, but my Psychic Friend has advised me that setting goals & keeping them will help me get out of this rut.

1. Finish organizing those Canadian sweeps! With a $250 Best Buy gift card under my belt & half way organized in my dailies, I'm finally almost there!
2. Eat smart. Eat right. 1,843 calories a day. 1,500mg of sodium MAX a day.
3. Save money. Eat out less, think twice at the thrift store (like that'll happen :p) bring pops to work, no impulse shopping.
4. Gym! Gym! Gym! I'm staying Fat! Fat! Fat! 4x this week.
5. ETSY/EBAY! Let's see what's up!

I'm adding a SIXTH goal this week...
to clean up this hoard! It's been a dumping ground for thrifted finds for awhile!

Sir Thrift-A-Lot: Flea Market Finds

This past week was full of thrifting fun - a lot of scores & quite a few thrifting adventures!

One such adventure was a stop at Talize, which is a thrift shop chain similar in size and set up as Value Village, only smaller in number compared to stores & Talize carries a small section of new "dollar store" like crap. This Talize stop brings us to the famous "you never know what you are going to find". Just before the cashes after we`ve shopped the store there is a literal mountain of vinyls. It was chaos. They were piled everywhere, in milk crates, in boxes, 7inches were tossed everywhere. This wasn`t there last week. They usually have only half a book shelf of vinyl, this mountain of chaos had to of been at minimum 1,300 records! We picked through each one, coming up with only Nancy Sinatra "Boots" & "Pearl" by Janis Joplin. They were charging 99cents each, buy 3 get 2 free. Quite a few fun covers in there & it probably took us a good 25-30 minutes to go through it all.

This week seemed to be a week of owls, which is never a bad thing.
I have a similar owl I picked up at another Goodwill, but this guys eyes match my kitchen decor, so he`ll be sitting in there. Something very cool is below is the pencil holder for the owl stationary set I picked up a couple weeks ago, now I have the letter holder, pencil holder & tape dispenser! & a set of owl Christmas bulbs, can`t wait for a tree next year.

Fun vintage Part-T Forks & Party Picks, Picks being from Hallmark.

Here is a beautiful set of bowls I posted about on The Pyrex Collective earlier this week. I had thought that they were delphite, but after seeking advice from fellow collectors, I have been told that they look like Azurite from Fire King. I have to agree.

And no thrifting week is complete without a bit of nostalgic pop culture, a 1988 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles metal TV tray for $2 from Goodwill & a complete, very good condition 1977 original Star Wars board game. They had covered this in clear packing tape, went around 3 times over the width of the game. I was very lucky to get the tape off without damaging the box. I understand why thrift stores do this (so a kid doesn`t come along & throw the pieces everywhere), but can`t they thing of a better way?

Vintage Musical Bar Set!

Today I picked up this what looks like complete vintage musical bar set from Value Village for a cool $7.99... decent price considering it's VALUE VILLAGE. You can buy a dishwashered, chipped Pyrex bowl for the same price. On the left it's an ice bucket on the right a decanter that sits in a slot with a nice red felt lining. With you lift the decanter, a whimsical tune, similar to a jewelry box, plays from the bar set. I've never seen one of these before.

Joining up with APRON THRIFT GIRL for THRIFT SHARE MONDAY.

A couple more things, if you are bored today.. check out my post on The Pyrex Collective If this ain't delphite than kiss my... assumption that it was and also my eBay auctions for some 1970's Garfield stickers - puffy, scratch & sniff & just regular - HERE!

This Weeks Finds!

There was a lot of thrifting this past week, but minimal finds. I had my first Sunday off in FOREVER, so I was able to visit the Sunday Antique Market at St. Lawerence Market here in Toronto. There were some interesting items, but the only thing I left with were these deer sale & pepper shakers. One of the sellers insisted that they were donkeys. I bet he would have sworn his life on it.

A great gift from my bestie, picked up from Cambridge - two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles notebooks, never used, from 1989. Pretty neat find from Value Village. Also from Value Village I got these Treasure Troll gift bags for 99cents for the lot.

I finally listed a few items in my etsy shop - just two Super Mario Brothers birthday cards from 1989, quite rare. It's been months since I wanted to list things. I have a few more items, but me & natural light never seem to be in the right place at the same time.
You can view my shop RIGHT HERE
If anybody wants to volunteer to make me a beautiful banner, I'd really appreciate it.

Is $20 too much for a Pyrex bowl?

Recently I came across two pieces of the Friendship pattern - 441, 443 & at the antique market I saw the 444 in fantastic condition. I've only seen the 444 once before in a thrift & it was in terrible, terrible condition. Do you think $20 is too much to help complete the set?

PYREX: Blue Friendship 401 Blue

This isn't my piece, but I had to share this great, unusual piece found by Mrs. T. on Flickr.

Once again, not my piece. Such a lucky, rare find. She found it in a little flea market in Hemlock, NY 60 miles north of Corning. You can read more about it here (fourth post down).
