Awesome "Flea Market" Finds!

It's Sunday, so once again it's time to join HER LIBRARY ADVENTURES for FLEA MARKET FINDS!

Also joining up with APRON THRIFT GIRL for Thrift Share Monday!

I felt I had some great luck this week, even though I visited a ton of thrift stores & only had a few finds, but had loads of fun along the way!

First up is a set of high ball glasses featuring a burlesque/pin up stripper hanging off a stripper pole. I haven't been able to find anything online on these & had doubts that these were vintage, even though I had some input from a woman in the store walking buy telling me they were "neat" & "from the '50s". I'm not sure what I am going to do with them, have what seems to be 100's of glasses.

A vintage Strauss Canadian Time made in Japan clock! Got this from Value Village. The clock was $9.99, not bad, it's very neat & there is one currently on eBay for nearly $100. There was an expired C battery in the battery compartment upon purchase & when I finally bought some batteries today, the lock wasn't working. Does anyone know a thing or two about clocks?

Also from the same trip, destined for my Etsy shop, this pretty neat tea towel which says, "Thank God for dirty dishes they have a story to tell while others still go hungry we are eating very well." By Irish Linen.

A vintage ice bucket? I have previously bought two of these. I am using one as an ashtray for guests on my balcony & one on my kitchen sink for sponges. This one I picked up & it had a little utensil to pick up ice. This was either put in there by someone or this is actually a vintage ice bucket. I have no clue. It wouldn't hold that much ice... $2.99. Value Village.

Here is a fun, reto fun - a 1980's Ronald McDonald stuffed toy in a bag of toys from Value Village for $1.99. I might have had something like this growing up...

Well, have a good week & THRIFT ON!

  2. love the clock. Too bad it isnt working. I have a really cool marble clock up for auction. I think I priced it too high as there are no bids but it goes until Thursday so hopefully someone will buy it.

I found a speak and spell at GW this week and I didnt want to buy it without testing it first. So I went over to their battery aisle, opened two packs of c batteries popped them into the toy and it worked! I bought the batteries too.

  3. Thanks Deana - I totally agree.

beckyp, I asked at the counter if they had any batteries, as they usually do, but they had no C batteries. The item is returnable, but I have decided to keep it for display purposes.

  4. I'm in love with those burlesque glasses. Just think. When you're having a nice serving of milk and cookies, so childlike and wholesome. Not when you use your new burlesque glasses! Ha!

  6. Amazing finds, I've been looking for one of those pedestal clocks for a while! Nifty ice bucket too, it has a unique shape. The pin up glasses look vintage, maybe early 1960s?

  12. I have that same saying about dirty dishes on about 4 novelty wall plates.

I have one above my sink which I guess is appropriate since its always full of dishes I am too lazy to clean.

  14. Love Of The Hunt - I had never heard it until I saw the cloth. I like it. Saw a decorative plate today with it on it, passed on it though.

Bluebird Daydreams - thank you so much!

  15. Great blog!!! Just wanted to let you know that your little silver thingee is ACTUALLY a sugar bowl for sugar cubes, not an ice bucket. The teeny tongs are for removing sugar cubes one at a time.

  16. sondic - thanks! I wasn't too sure about it being an ice bucket.

  17. Do you still have the silver Strauss "ball clock"? the c battery one on the pedistal? I have the same one in working condition, I'd like to buy it from you and try to fix it, if you still have it

  18. Strauss Canadian Time Pedestal Tulip Base Clock Blue Face Chrome Electric Vintag.
since it is not an alarm clock, it has no alarm. So no need to discuss whether or not the alarm works.
Absolutely exquisite example of the mid-century tulip base clocks! Larger in size than most, its deeply off-set hands and magnificent partitional (if I may) hour markers create a wonderful three dimensional show, making for a welcome diversion for the eyes whenever the need to know the time arises.
